Hello fellow crohnies

I had my first flare last week and im finally feeling so much better. :dusty:

Im eating only plain food, like homemade soup and white bread etc, but im starting to feel better and wondering what foods I should start to eat to introduce normal foods into my body?

Also, last few days I have had blood in my urine when I wipe. I keep thinking it might be my period, (even though im on the pill) but theres nothing in my pants. I don't want to go to the doctors and then be embarrassed for her to tell me its just my period. Any ideas?

Do you use tampons? Perhaps use tampons for a day and that way you can tell if it's from your urine or... Elsewhere haha

After my first flare that got me admitted to the hospital, I was on a low-fiber & low residue diet. And I slowly started adding more normal food.

Glad you're feeling better!

Haha. thanks... didn't think of tampons, Youre a genius. Much appreciated!

I am feeling better even more as time goes by. I was hospitalized too, and was so frightened as id never experienced a flare like that before. I will start to introduce different foods from tomorrow.

You shouldn't be embarrassed, that's what doctors are for to help with abnormal events and figuring things out. IBD wouldn't cause blood in your urine unless you had a fistula. It's most likely not IBD related but certainly a cause for concern.

Ask your doctor about the blood. Confusing blood from your period with other causes of bleeding is perfectly understandable, and comes up in medicine all the time (e.g. blood from your period contaminating stool samples so a stool test comes back positive for bleeding); a reasonable doctor will not look down on you for not knowing! Even if you're on the pill, you could be "spotting" - bleeding just a little bit so it appears on the paper when you wipe, but not enough to show up on a sanitary towel. Spotting is very common and happens for all sorts of reasons - mention it to your doctor. It could even be that because you've been ill and not eating much, the malnutrition has led to spotting rather than a normal period, which can happen.

As for food, I'd agree with sticking with low-fibre/low-residue, and avoid anything very rich or greasy. Some things that might be good for you to eat: White bread, pasta, and rice; Low-fibre breakfast cereals; Bananas; Smooth peanut butter; Ice cream, yoghurts and puddings; White meat and fish, eggs, cheese.
