Hi all. I had my perianal abscrss drained and a seton placed about 3months ago.. all has been going well. Pus drainage has dropped off to almost nothing. However today the external opening has been steadily bleeding all day - ive had to change gauze much more frequently then usual and its normally a big patch on it, its even dripping out when i go to the loo. Its been a bit more tender than usual too. Im on the waiting list for a mucosal advancement flap.
Any clues about this? Is it a good or bad sign?
Thanks x :)

Mine sometimes bleeds more when I'm due on. Could be that? Or maybe you have irritated it through activity. Or it could just be the Crohn's inflammation is more active than usual. I'm currently on a short course of metronidazole which is helping after recent curettage. Gastro said it would 'mop up' any lingering bacteria.

Oh thanks so much kat123 - i am due so maybe thats it :)

may i ask where is your anal fistula located?
nice that drainage came down so much. have you been taking anything or doing anything in particular to help reduce drainage?

Hi there its perianal... about half wya up the sphincter and its anterior so the enternal wound is sort of at 10oclock... closer to vagina than anus. I havent done anything in particular to reduce drainage but i am on ciprofloxacin twice a day so i think that has contributed :)

Someone else told me they saw blood come out when it was healing. Could be for different reasons I guess but unless it's a lot I have been told a small amount is normal
