My son is in the process of being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease so forgive me if this is a question I should already know the answer to. Very often, although not every time, when he has a BM the skin on his butt blisters and turns bright red. This causes him tremendous pain when I'm diapering him so I'm trying to figure out why it happens and what I can do to make it stop. At it's worst, his skin actually breaks and bleeds. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

In our expereince - your child my differ so ask your ped or gi
We used calmoseptine for DS . You can find it at Walgreens in the adult diaper section.
It can act as a barrier creme to protect the skin.

Our dermotologist told us to use that or plain zinc oxide .
Also leave the area "air" out over night .
Just creme and skin.

If your child is in diapers this could be a problem but maybe a little more "air" diaper free time.

Has the Gi seen it ?

We've used a lot of them. I like "Triple Paste" the best. It doesn't 'melt' like the others so it stays in place longer. It seems to work very quickly. I got ours at Walmart. Its like $8.00 but worth it. And lasts a long time.
