I had a prostate exam and it hurt quite a bit. I found blood in my stools right after and a bit on the toilet paper. The blood was bright red so I'm hoping it's an internal hemorrhoid he aggravated.

Is it normal to have blood in the stools after this exam? I have read ppl have it on toilet paper but not stools.

I know my son has blood every time he has a large stool or an exam. As soon as I put him on Miralax and get the stool the right size and consistency it goes away. Our G.I. is not worried about it at all and did a complete exam and took biopsies etc. It sometimes can be quite a bit in stool and on toilet paper. He has no crohn's in his perianal area or colon but the hard very large stool produces this result. I think it is worth checking into if it continues for a while but I really wouldn't worry about it. Hope this helps.

bright red means it close by, it should be ok, but if it doesnt then see the GI (give it a week or 2)

What Rygon said.

Also I think it might be better if you leave it be, so it doesn't get more irritated and can heal if need be. The guts are kind of like the face. The tiniest cut (like a cat scratch) will bleed quite a bit, but that doesn't mean it's serious. Just keep an eye out for it persisting.

It seems to have stopped. When it's on the toilet paper I don't freak but in the stool suggests an internal comp. thanks guys.
