Ok so today I went to the bathroom and there was bright red blood in it. It was dripping in the toilet and there was alot of it on the toilet paper. Just wondering what the difference is between a hemmie bleed is and Crohns bleed.. I have had small amounts of blood on the toilet paper before but never like this.

I went to the er and they ran some blood tests. They think it was a hemmorhoid cause they gave me suppositories. What would blood mean?

Hi Mary,

The blood if it is bright red is usually from the lower/large intestine...
which could be hemmorhoids as you suspect.

If the blood is a darker red or maroon in color it's usually from farther up.

Use the suppositories and check back to see what the blood tests say when they come back.

Well, it sounds like it could be hemmies, but anal fissures can also cause bleeding and are quite painful. Did they do a rectal exam?

It was a hemmorhoid how embarrasing. I went to the er. There was alot of blood!!!

Can these just bleed once and then stop for a week? I get feeling like that and it does bother me but the next time I go there is no sign of blood in the bowl or paper?? So I just let it ride and try to eat more fish again :(

There was a little blood for months but this particular day it was tons. Now there is none.

Mary - Don't be embarrassed, hemmies can produce a surprising amount of blood, which is very frightening! You did the right thing by getting it checked out.

Thanks. Yes I did not realize how much blood there is. Now there is none. Maybe its is gone.
