My blood pressure was always low but lately it's super high. I'm trying everything to avoid meds but im kind of ribbing out of ideas as to what's caused a sharp spike these past few months.

Could it be remicade? Something ibd? I haven't really heard of any crohns/bp connection outside of medication side effects so I'm kinda stumped.

My blood pressure was always low but started to increase and still. Prednison is known to increase blood pressure but I was not taking it at that time. After few months of high blood pressure, I had to stop humira because it was not effective and doctors thought it is lupus induced by humira. But this did not lower the pressure. Finally ( after having unstable angina) they diagnosed it as one type of vasculitis or premature atherosclerosis due to chronic inflammation of vessels especially that most patients with Crohns do not have any common risk factor for athersclerosis ( obesity or hypercholesterolemia) . I have found many papers about this subject , some found carotid intimal thickening ( indicating atherosclerosis ) even in children with Crohns disease!!

Is it high for you or is it high?

Our blood pressure fluctuates based on when we take it, if we've been exercising, in pain, etc. I'mon the low side of normal but if iI took it after the nurse changed my dressing it would be high normal.

I have been dealing with high blood pressure, it started a couple years ago the day after a remade infusion.....I still think there is a relationship although my doctor doesn't.....I have felt like my blood pressure spiked a day or two after the infusion multiple times.......I'm keeping an eye on things, take my pressure at home etc.

At first it was high for me but now it is high reaching up to 160 /100 .

Mine has been on the rise for a year or more.My BP. meds has been increased from 2.5mgs,to 5 and now 10.I'm not on any IBD meds at this time as I'm waiting for calpractin results. It was 190/85 at the hospital last week, but my home reading is usually up to 160/80 which is high.My lifestyle and diet are ok,so I don't know why it's so high.

Mine went up for the first time ever after remicade. But I have low sodium levels, so it's probably not my diet. I will keep an eye on it though.

For those on remicade did they notice it go up right after the infusion or gradually?

They always check my bp before and after and there isn't a shift in it, whatever I come in with high or not is the number I leave with.

Cardiologist wants me on a bp med but it warns of causing strictures. hell no I'm not taking anything that can further increase my odds of structuring.

Is there an ibd safe bp med? I know there are so many but it seems they all either interact with my meds or are not very GI safe.

Micardis can cause strictures not sure about others. i know Benicar causes gi distress that mimics celiac disease.
