My dr is having a really hard time getting me under control. I will be good for a while but then start getting sick again... the last year has been quite a roller coaster for me. So he is talking about possibly doing what he called a booster round of Humira. Basically doing the starter pack all over again. Has anyone ever heard of or done this and if so how did it go?

my daughter is fourteen and has been on humira for a year. she had terrible joint pain in her knees. went to pediatric rheumatologist she said megan was hypermobil very flexible ... she takes mercocaptopurine and humira the humira put her Crohn's disease in remission and her joint pain improved tremendously. she had her humira last monday knee pain went away but know she is having severe backpain. pedi rumi put her back on steriods and robaxin which is not helping now giving elavil.............

I had a booster round - not the full loading dose, but extra shots in the off-week, when I would not normally be taking a shot. I think it's pretty common practice if you have a little bit of a flare, but generally, they think the Humira is working.

I have started Humira a few times never extra booster round though. I have heard this numerous times now and think it's a option for sure. Since I started Humira 3 times during the 4 shot and 2 shot period I always felt better then once I went on single pens, so it makes sense.

Thanks everyone! I had heard of extra shots being given and even it being taken once a week instead of every other week but I had never heard of doing the whole loading dose over again... My doctor said that it worked remarkably well for one of their UC patients that they were having trouble getting in remission. I guess we will see.

I felt AMAZING when I first started on it. The first day I was wiped out but after that it was incredible how much better I felt. I am hoping this will help and I will practice a little more self control in the future... I may or may not have been feeling pretty good and celebrated my 5 year anniversary a little to much. :ybatty:
