I had a bowel resection 6 weeks ago and my stools are still not normal.
Did anyone else have this problem ? If so how long did it take to go back to normal ?
I am at 6 weeks after resection surgery, like you and I am still experiencing diarrhea and some cramping. It wasn't as bad as it was pre surgery, but I'm hoping to eventually be normal. My doctor said to take Metamucil. Trying Chia seeds.
I hate to say it, but my son had a resection in January and still doesn't have normal stools. Maybe 15 formed stools in the last 9 months? His GI said this might be his new definition of normal and wasn't too concerned.
I'm post op 6 weeks as well as of October 25th. My BMs are not remotely solid. I had one soft solid, everything else has been D. My first 2 weeks home I had 2-3 bouts of D after every meal. I'm down to 5-6 bouts of D/day. What's killing me is gas pain!oo:
Thank you all for you responses. I have just been diagnosed with c diff. So I am hoping that has been the reason for the way things have been. I hope I get back to normal soon and wish the same for you all too.
Hi! I'm five weeks exactly from having a resection and my stools are soft and formed, but not like they used to be. I did have D at first. It was probably 2 weeks after they became formed. It's a new normal for me i guess. I still have pain via spasms and have discovered foods that hurt my belly. My doctors follow me closely and aren't concerned. I hope you are feeling better soon!
