Boyfriend using illegally: I am conflicted

My boyfriend was recently diagnosed with Crohn's. A few months prior to diagnosis, he would use marijuana recreationally with friends. He decided to quit using, because he felt he was getting too dependent on the high to have fun.

Fast forward to now, and marijuana really helps his symptoms. We have sought legal options--our state allows CBD oil in very low doses. Low-dose CBD oil doesn't cause a high, and alleviates his symptoms somewhat. The problem is, the legal CBD oil--in all forms--is very very expensive. My boyfriend has no means of income. Also, the legal low dose helps, but not as much as it could.

We have a friend who could get illegal medical-grade CBD oil, but that will take time.

In the mean time, my boyfriend does have a safe, reliable source to get marijuana--someone who understands his financial circumstances, and is willing to help out.

I am torn. Due to other medical problems, my boyfriend cannot use painkillers of any kind. Due to lack of income, he cannot use legal CBD. His traditional Crohn's medications have proven ineffective so far. The only thing he has to alleviate symptoms right now is marijuana.

I am conflicted, because on one hand I don't want him to be bleeding and in agony. But on the other hand, I don't like what the high does to him. I have, and will continue, to help him get what he needs during a bad flare--but I'm torn.
