Hello my name is Steve. I go by my middle name.
I was diagnosed with Chron's when I was 19.
I'll save the details for another day, other than surgery ensued immediately and I was in the hospital for one week after.
Always had stomach pains sitting on the toilet when I was growing up.
I just thought it was normal, growing pains or something.
Before that at the age of 17, I was 4'11" and weighed 78 pounds.
Today I am 33 at 5'8" and weigh 148 pounds.
My weight has never gone above 150 or below 145.
I drink beer all the time. (Molson Canadian to be exact)
Not everyday of the week, but on average 5 out of 7.
Just got rid of empties and figured out (with Math) I drink an average of 5 beer a day.
The day I got out of the hospital, I went to a dance club with a dress code, wearing track pants.
Showing them the bandage on top of my surgery scar, I was happily allowed entry.
Proceeded to get completely sh*t faced on vodka and 7 (25 cent highballs was the special).
I smoked for 10 years, 4 months ago quit cold turkey.
I used to smoke MJ as well everyday, but dropped that when I quit smoking.
I find my appetite is slightly down because of that, but not detrimentally low.
Long post, time for a ---- break ----
(relax, sit back and tighten your seatbelt)
Prescription is Pentasa 500mg 5-aminosal (2 tablets 3 times daily).
I'm lucky if I take 8 pills a week.
The negative effects aren't that bad;
pain (used to it)
fatigue (which sun and heat amplify)
diarrhea at times, if I drink, stool is solid
avoidance of foreign food (live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada)
Not sure if my case is very mild or if the alcohol helps,
along with my thoughts on sickness and our brain (another story for another time).
But here is the real point of this post (aside from introduction).
I want to start working out again.
Curious as to how this affects other Chron's people in the world.
Where main focus is on exercise of the stomach.
Thanks for taking the time to read,
hopefully it was enjoyable,
Steve
