Budesonide and swollen face

Hi there,

I'm really worried as I took my first doseage of budesonide 9mg at 9am. At 1pm I woke up (really fatigued at the moment) and the right side of my face was puffy. Two hours later it's evened out with the left side.
My worry is, if after only a few hours I'm starting to get the dreaded moon face, what am I going to be like after 6 weeks?! (Gradually tapering).

I'm taking 4mg of mesalamine with it too, but I've had that (albeit a much lower dosage) before.

Has anyone else had the start of moon face/ puffiness and it's gone away after a few days? Or am I just kidding myself and headed for a planet head?

Just when I thought I couldn't get any more unattractive. Blah blah blah xx

The moon face can start even after the first dosage. In many cases it goes away when you taper down the steroids, but sometimes it lasts quite a while. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any really effective treatments for this side effect.

Mesalamine (5-Asa) isn't contributing to it.

General question, are you a Crohn's or UC patient? Will you start any long term meds that kick in while you taper down budesonide? If you have Crohn's, 5-Asa isn't really an effective drug.

Im surprised it's happening so fast and on entocort. Pred is more likely to cause this than entocort. I'd ask the Dr because this sounds more like an allergy than a side effect.
