Hi. I have crohns with fissure and fistula. I now have a bump (very painful to the touch) between my tail bone and anus. It reminds me of what I think a hernia would be. It hurts when I go from standing to sitting and is really scaring me. Its really painful to touch.

What could it be?

I have a doc appt Thursday... but any advice??? Could it be a pulled muscle? Or is this another fistula happening???

Help!

Hi,
Sounds like a pilonidal cyst (not related to Crohns.) They can heal/drain by themselves but sometimes need attention. Regular nice warm salt baths can help - and yeah they can be annoying, and painful to touch.
good luck.

It could also be an abscess with or without a fistula. Sitz bath is always a good idea. You may want to call your doc and let them know. They may want to move your apt up. Hope you feel better.

Thanks for your help. I don't think its the cyst. I'm worried that it could be an abscess. It hurts the most when I go from standing to sitting. But if I push on it or "hold on" to it when I go from standing to sitting it hurts less. So weird. I'm wondering if it can be some sort of muscle pull? All this is so frustrating.

I vote for pilonidal cyst as well.... take care of it now, as they can get pretty nasty if ignored.
