I have a burning feeling in the top of my tummy and a little up into my chest. It's not painful as such, just quite disturbing? I don't really have any pain at the moment either. Anyone know what this is? (sorry if it's a stupid question) And also I'm currently undiagnosed so I'm not entirely sure what's wrong anyway. :S

It could be a variety of things. I've had it be anything from indigestion to a ulcer to a perforation. If its not that painful, I would say it could be something you've ate or drank irritating your stomach lining a little.

I'm not too bad at the moment actually, although lately I've been experiencing nausea probably 75% of the time, head rushes and short-lived migraines. I don't know.. usually these better times don't last too long and I'll be having D and stomach pains again soon. Thanks for asking though. But no, I don't really have any symptoms which could be related to the burning sensation (except maybe nausea?).

Possible Acid reflux and or possible inflammation or....
I would call and go to your doctor to make sure.

Please keep us updated. The last flare I had before this one I was nauseous all the time so that can def. be related to inflammation! I hope the best for you!

Hello, I had my GI appointment today. She told me the colonoscopy seemed normal and all biopsies were normal and so was my blood work. She asked me how my stress was and I replied about upcoming exams, which was probably a mistake as she seems to think it's IBS and I'm causing it myself by stressing. -sigh- I am to have a barium follow through to look at my small intestine to make sure, but in the mean time I'm to keep a food diary and symptom diary and present it to a dietician who will tell me what and what not to eat. Looks like there's nothing they can do for me, then.
Edit: I forgot to say she is also sending me to get my thyroid levels checked again as this can affect the digestive system and cause change in bowel habits, even though underactive thyroids are supposed to cause constipation, which I definitely don't have. :/

I'm sorry you're not finding your GI helpful. It is far far too early to be fobbing you off with the IBS excuse, that is what happened to me, and I am in such a state because of it!

Crohn's can occur from mouth to anus so to say looks like IBS when one single area has been tested is stupid.

If the barium comes back normal and they try you on some IBS meds which don't work, see another Dr.

I've seen several people on here have 100% normal tests, up/down scopes, Barium, CT scan etc etc and it was only with a Pill Cam that CD was diagnosed. They are not routinely given though in the UK and there are often funding restrictions depending on where you live.

Please do keep us updated!

Thanks for your reply.

I know I should push for something more.. but I get looked at like a massive hypochondriact. Maybe it is IBS because I don't have bloody stools and I've never had to go to A&E with the pain. I don't think she wants to do anymore scopes as I had an ultrasound on my whole abdomen about 6 months ago (originally to look at my bladder) and she said they didn't find anything wrong with my stomach either. So.. I don't know. I don't really respond to antispasmodics though, which I probably should if it's IBS, and this dietician is going to be bs. I try cutting out stuff to avoid pain and D, obviously, but basically everything gives me pain and D so what's the point of only eating bland food if it's still going to set off my stomach?

Sorry, thinking out loud ahaha xD And I should probably get back over to the undiagnosed club!

There are intolerance breath tests that your dietician or GI can give you. Maybe that can help to see if there is that possibility to eliminate certain things.

Some tests can come back fine and that does not mean that something is not there. Doctors PRACTICE medicine!! They are not God! Most do not have all the answers at times. I agree with what Stargirrrl said, I would get another opinion.

Thanks for the info. I'll go along with it for now as I'm not nearly as bad as some of the people here, but if anything gets worse this will be the first thing I bring up. In the meantime, I think she's just doing more tests, in case. She is lovely, I just think I need more tests to say it's IBS.

I was told I had IBS for several years. Even my last biopsy (09) came back negative for Crohns... However, if you look at my CT scans, barium x-rays, and colonoscopies, you would see a totally different story. I have several fistulae, stenosis (over 2') as well as "cobblestoning" in the small intestine. ALL of which are Crohns indicators which are plainly obvious.

I was misdiagnosed until I had a CT scan in '06 to determine if I had endured a second hernia; my first being in late 2005. The CT scan revealed inflammation in all three parts of my small intestine, as well as the stenosis (narrowing of the intestine due to scar tissue) and a scarred Ileocecal valve. Not a second hernia! Imagine my shock! I had an endoscopy in '04 to evaluate my colon in search of CD, which showed a healthy colon, hence my IBS diagnosis. I too thought it was in my head in '04...

Let's hope for your sake, it's truly only IBS. I would never wish this disease on anyone.

Hi. Thanks for giving us an update. I am sorry you still do not have answers. Ask to get copies of the biopsy reports and all testing. Many doctors say everything is normal, even if things are slightly off. (will be seeing you at the undiagnosed club!)

Thanks guys. I hope, in a horrible way, something shows on the x ray. I don't want Crohn's, but at least then I know and I have treatment options, rather than 'Take Imodium and stop getting stressed'. I will be happy if it is truly IBS in a way, because I know it's not as serious, just mainly untreatable. But I don't want to believe that and then end up seriously ill in a few years.

See you over there, Danny's mom!

Oh and Danny's mom, that is an idea because I asked for my blood test results when I went for my colonoscopy, and saw that my B12 (just over 200) and my iron (30) were in the very low range of normal, but she didnt mention a thing and I'm thinking my fatigue has something to do with those two levels.
