Over the last month or so (I think) I have been burping lots. Up to then, I almost never burped. But it started kind of gradually and I guess I didn't really notice it getting worse. But anyway, after eating I burp maybe once a minute or so, the bigger the meal the longer it goes on for. I don't drink anything carbonated, I don't think I swallow air with my food (I mean, I never burped before so why would I have started now?). Is it just part of the Crohn's? Is there anything I can try to help relieve it? I mentioned it to my GI last week, who didn't really say much about it, he was just concentrating on the lower symptoms.

Hi
Do you have reflux? I know when I start burping a lot it is a sign my reflux is acting up. It is good you are not drinking carbonated beverages, but try reducing other high acid foods too. Also, I have noticed the faster I eat the more I burp. This helps me hopefully it can help you.

If I keep burping constantly for a couple days, I begin to have acid buildup in my throat and sometimes get sores in my mouth so if you start to get any other symptoms I would call your doc, and ask him again only about the upper symptoms. Crohns can manifest in any part of your digestive tract.

I hope your issue resolves itself. Good Luck

Thanks, I don't get acid reflux, but sometimes if I've had a cold drink some of it refluxes, but it's not acidy if that makes sense? I just feel the cold liquid come back up.

What other foods are acid? I know lots of fruits are, but I don't eat much fruit except for bananas. I guess you're going to tell me to stop drinking coffee :(

I've been burping more recently, too. Usually after I eat or if I've been laying down for a while, sometimes when I get up. It'll be a few burps one after the other. Kind of weird since I've had issues with reflux but not burping.

Well, you are right, lots of fruits are, and spicy foods don't do well for reflux. Most dairy items, tomatoes and red sauces are horrible for me, orange and cranberry juice.
Actually coffee doesn't always bother me, but yest it can be a cause, but you can try it in moderation and just cut the # of cups a day to see if that helps or not, it may not be the problem, and if you cut it out and there is no difference then you know that is not the problem :) I can sometimes have a cup a day, just watch if you use dairy creamer.

Oh and Chocolate. I used to love my glass of Chocolate soy milk at night but had to cut back because I would get heartburn when I went to bed :(

Trial and error if you are not sure, cut it out for a week and see if you improve if you don't then that is not what is causing the reflux.

Hope this helps :)

Well, off that list the only things I really have are dairy, tomato sauces and coffee. Don't think coffee is the problem as I drink more coffee in the morning and the burping is worse in the evening. Guess it's back to the food diary to see if I can find a culprit, thanks!

I burp insanely and it's disgusting. Yes, there are some food that do it for me like coffee and bread. And then there are moments where there doesn't seem to be anything to trigger it and I still burp. I think part of my burping (really, it's more belching than burping) is about how bloated I am. This is, in part, due to the foods I eat, but it doesn't come up as an immediate reaction but stuff "stewing" in my belly. When I've eaten too much sugar or yeast based products, I notice more burping, although I may not have eaten any sugar or yeast on the day.

Good luck finding the "bad boy" in your body!

Well my tummy was feeling extra good today, and I have a cold so I had a curry! Strangely I only burped twice after eating it! But just now (3 hours after eating) I burped and some sick came up :( completely out of the blue, no bloating or nausea or anything, just the mouth equivalent of a shart I guess (what would that be called? A vurp? Bomit?).

UGH I wish I could burp. I find it impossible and it all gets trapped in me instead.

I'll take some of your burps for you instead! win/win.

But seriously, sorry I can't help. Hope you get it sorted!
