It's been a long time. I hope everyone has been well and look forward to getting caught up once again.

Where have I been? I'm happy to say that I was busy with my job after a promotion. Things are finally settling down for me with work but I'm starting to believe that Crohn's may be trying to move from the back burner.

My current situation is that I've been experiencing a feeling of pressure or fullness in my esophagus. This has been going on for 4-5 days.

I have had BMs but not as much as normal (2-3 times a day). For the most part I feel ok. It's just this blocked up feeling.

What have I done? I called my doctor and he is running some blood tests. They have me on a liquid diet until the results are back.

Last night I took two colace. Today I took two fiber wafers and a metamucil type drink. I also doubled my Nexium to 80mg. I still feel pressure up into my throat.

So, I fully intend on continuing to figure this out with my doctor. However, I was curious if anyone has felt similar to this before. If so, what was it? What did you do?

My meds: I'm on Humira weekly.

I have never had that feeling before but one thing I noticed is that you are taking fiber which will cause you to feel more full then you really are and can give a sort of bloated feeling. I would not take the fiber and if you are having trouble going then I would recommend a cap or a half a cap of miralax a day. It has no taste, as long as you don't add it to water, and it will help keep you from being constipated.

Good luck

When I had that full feeling it was due to a stricture. Food simply was not able to move through the pencil thin opening very well.

That does not mean it is a stricture in your case, but it is something to look for.

Glad you are back, and yet sorry you are back and having problems.

Dan

hey butteze!
i dont think we ever met, but i have seen some of you posts around and they stuck out to me cause of your lil pug! (it is a pug right? lol) i love them, would get one if we didnt have 3 kitties.

ok well anyways nice to meet u!
dont really have advice for your throat problem....do you have trouble swallowing?
i see u take nexium, so i assume you have acid reflux. me too (prevacid for that). does it go away for you with the nexium? my crohns has also flared to the point where ive gotten esophageal ulcers before. i guess that gave me a feeling of "fullness" there. but mostly pain and couldnt swallow. hmm im not sure.
i hope you figure it out. good luck!

hi Butt-eze & welcome back :)

well done on the job promotion!

sorry to hear you're having a new set of issues now - like Kello i was going to suggest it may be to do with acid coming up from the valve at the top of your stomach. good luck with the test results - i hope the doctor can figure this quickly and get you some relief.

Welcome back Amy!!

Congrats on the promotion!!

Sorry to hear about the fullness problem, though :(

I feel full at times and bloated, it is usually just that I am flaring and it tends to calm doown in a few days.

Keep us posted on the results??

All my Crohns has been restricted to posterior and not anterior infiltration, sorry I can't help with any concrete solutions....but I'm glad you've returned nonetheless. :)

Thank you all. That gave me at least the thought that it's not all in my head. I think you described the sensation best Pen.

I did get my SED rate back-25. Not bad but not normal considering I'm on Humira.

I'm guessing I'll be going for the scope soon.

It's not a stricture or a hernia. I had a barium swallow today and everything looked normal. Go figure.

I suppose that's a good thing, seeing as how it could be a more minimal issue, ie: one that will go away on its own???

I can handle a little discomfort knowing that the images showed nothing. Suppose we will just wait and see how things go.
