This is my third c.diff infection and my GI seems oddly calm about it. I was in the hospital Thursday for the flu and I told them about my c.diff infection and they freaked out. Idk if I should panic or what...... ughness :/
Yeah that is very true it's just one of the nurses was like...."What did you touch! I wasn't told about this now I need to go l sanitize myself." And he stormed out and did not come back. Then another nurse came in and said he had c.diff before and he nearly died and spent 3 weeks in the hospital. They moved me into a isolation room so I wouldn't spread it. It was like watching a show. Like I said my GI doctor seems awfully calm compared to the others..... he told me a fecal transplant was a last resort. Also to try vancomycin for the 3rd time. When I was in isolation a second doctor came in and couldn't understand why my GI put me on vanco first especially since this is my third attempt trying to get rid of it. (I understand it's extremely hard to get rid of.)
Shame, you should elect for fecal transplant, it's hard to demand things and I'm usually quite passive but I'm beginning to be more bossy coz in so over how many uneducated people are in the health industry. I hope you get it sorted ASAP.
Yeah there is a definite smell after going the restroom. I had to do a stool sample and it came back positive 3 times. So to me vancomycin isn't working but my GI keeps pushing it.
fecal transplant should not be a last resort its effective and may even help with your colitis. Not sure where you are, consider seeing a doctor who is involved in it like Dr Brandt in NY.
