I used to take Calcium supplements but I am not convinced they are needed. I used Coral Calcium and it never seemed to bother me, but it may not be the best form of Calcium either. My multivitamin has some Calcium in it.
It may be different when you have Crohn's, and possibly we do need calcium, but it seems strange that the places with the least food in the world generally do not have a problem with Osteoporosis. I am thinking now that it is our overdosing of vitamin A, lack of D, and Magnesium that is more important for bones than adding Calcium. The evidence is not rock solid, but in the U.S. I do not see much possibility for a Calcium deficiency given our high Diary diet. Since the problem of Osteoporosis affect many here, there must be better explanation.
I do no that weight bearing exercise is the surest way of increasing bone density. Since I was in the moving business, my bones must be like Iron by now.
