By how much do you increase calories when having diarrhoea, e.g. when being in a flare-up? (I'm not sure whether or not I'm in a flare-up again or what this is now, but I have diarrhoea (and other symptoms, see my other post from today if you like more details) or loose stools between 5-8, normally one BM daily)

Does it even make sense to increase calories or do I end up having even more BM's? It feels as if drinking something makes it worse, but I need to drink plenty, don't I?

Sorry for these weird questions, just wondering how I can prevent any more weight loss.

He is on holiday. I can't tolerate milk protein but can tolerate elemental 028, was on it exclusively, adding it to my diet gives my diarrhoea, only food or elemental only for me. And I can't even smell elemental at the moment, had too much of it in the past few months.

Have you ever done a food diary to see what foods aggravate your system? If you knew what foods aggravate your system that might slow down your symptoms some. Then go to your doctor when he gets back.

@ronrush7: I do, I'm on a full elimination diet and introduce one food after another. I had a major reaction to soy, from then everything got worse day by day.

@justanothercp: Thank you for your experience. I tried to eat more today and I feel even worse, super bloated and gassy (my tummy looks as if I am pregnant - but I'm not ;-) ), more abdominal pain, not only in the lower right quadrant now.

As soon as I drink AND eat I have even more problems. When I only drink or only eat and drink very little it seems to alleviate the symptoms a bit (but is not good for hydration, I know).

I tend to change my diet and eat smaller meals, more often, when I'm in a flare. I eat more of things like carrot soup, bananas, avocados, & rice when in a flare. I find that during a flare I lost weight no matter what I'm eating, I've been trying to gain 10 pounds as a buffer for my next flare but I haven't been able to gain more than a few pounds in the last 6 months :/

Right after my resection , my doctor told me more meals but smaller.

I've been trying having smaller meals more frequently but it didn't help. So I'm back on elemental now, thank you ronrush!
