can anyone relate to this?

Hi forum friends,
I am 58 and was diagnosed in November of 2008 when I had an emergency bowel resection as the result of a perforated bowel. I had been hospitalized for 2 days with a very high fever which they couldn't locate the source of until they did a CT scan and saw the sepsis and the perforation. Ironically, I had been receiving tests for Anemia, and had had an upper and colonoscopy as well as a small bowel capsule swallow right before I was hospitalized. During surgery they found CD and removed and resected a portion of my small bowel. I did not have to have a Stoma. I have very mild (compared to so many of you) flares. The most recent one lasted ten days and consisted of mild diarrhea, extreme fatigue, lack of appetite ( HIGHLY unusual for me!), nausea and upset (painful, tender) stomach aches. I really like my GI and I feel that he is thorough, skilled and has a lot of integrity. I am taking Lialda, 2.4 grams and most of the time I feel good. Does anyone else out there have flares that are fairly mild? Is anyone else out there as old as me? Thanks for listening and being there,
Ann

My age is in between yours and Joans lol. Have had crohns 20 years. I am in mild to mod stage at the moment, exhausted all meds, just back and forth with Cipro and Flagyl until a new drug gets here.

:welcome: to the forum!

Hi Ann

my flares tend to be small (bar my surgery) i've been hit with a large loss of energy at the moment but everything before this was very small flare ups and to be honest it didn't bother me much, i said when i was diagnosed i wasn't going to let CD rule me and luckily it didn't until recently and i'm hoping with some medication it won't again

lets hope yours will just be very mild and medication can help fix it :)
