Hi, I'm new here. I've had Crohns disease since I was 11 and I'm currently on remicade at the age of 18.

Well, about two weeks before my bi-monthly remicade treatment I had a flare-up(symptoms usually do come back a week before treatment) well, about two days after my treatment I started having tingling, odd sensations, action tremors in my fingers, muscle twitching, numbness, sensitivity to cold, and dizziness.

So, I call up my GI and he schedules an appointment thinking it was a allergic reaction to the remicade. He came to the conclusion it was not and thought it was stress related and prescribed 'propranolol' that has not helped any of symptoms.

Can crohns cause neuropathy? Has that been heard of?

Crohn's can cause vitamin B12 deficiency which can cause peripheral neuropathy.

Have you been tested for any vitamin or mineral deficiencies?

They take blood work every treatment(purple test tube), so I don't know if they test for that or not. Usually tell me the results if something is low or alarming.

You should find out if they have tested your B12. It's not something you want to be deficient in for any prolonged period of time. It could cause permanent damage.

I think if you're in the USA the purple top is for your white cells, red cells. Hematocrit,etc..when I have my b 12 drawn its in a red top..b 12 deficiency can cause those types of symptoms in me. And I have restless legs..jerk all night long and I can't sleep..annoying and exhausting!!

Yes, it gets worse when laying down or trying to rest, but it's never woken me out of my sleep. Tends to get worse as the day goes on and a I get the twitching and the other odd sensations. I have another remicade treatment in about two weeks, should I just tell them to test my b12 levels there?

Go ahead and call them on Monday to get the ball rolling just in case they need to clear stuff with insurance, etc ahead of time.

Very interesting....think I should mention to my doctor the on and off again tingling I've been getting in my right hand....I've noticed I tend to drop things more easily too......thought it was related to a neck issue....
