Removing ALL gluten is the first thing to do,

Restoring balance of healthy gut microbes is the second thing

If you have been diagnosed with celiac disease you HAVE to go completely gluten free. You can't even eat a crumb!! Has this not been explained to you?

Most people, really quickly, feel much better!

If you have coeliac disease you should be off gluten entirely for life! You'll start to feel better very quickly.

Yep, means you shouldn't eat any gluten :p

There's plenty of gluten free food out there though that are fairly similar to ones with gluten in. I remember having a gluten free pizza with a friend once, wasn't bad!

Also be careful of what you eat in general. Food you don't think would have gluten in can do, and when eating out this can be a problem. There were a few times where she ate something like chips (the british kind) and ended up with stomach pain, so keep that in mind too.

If you have celiac, gluten can cause so many problems beyond stomach pain. I would suggest connecting with a nutritionist who specializes in gluten free living.

Ditto what everyone else said. Gluten is like poison to your body if you are celiac. Be careful of hidden gluten too.

Yes, you need to be off gluten. The good thing is you should start to feel better very quickly, and after you are off gluten for a while you shouldn't have any more problems.

Just a tip - be careful of sauces, dressings, and seasonings as a lot of them can have added gluten. Make sure you read labels!

I've read of alot of people reporting an improvement after going gluten free (firmer stool, less bloating, less joint pain) but nobody saying that it 'cured' them.

Gluten free is a part of most of the diets that are reported to work.
Most of these diets (SCD,Paleo,GAPS) avoid all grains and sugar.

Often, once a healthy gut bacteria has been reintroduced and a degree of healing has occurred then some grains can be reintroduced.

"In fact, a recent review in the New England Journal of Medicine listed fifty-five diseases that can be caused by eating gluten!"

Gluten no doubt caused the first flare of my life which was bloody and messy. When I removed it I went into remission. Problem is, I had an even worse flare 3 years later. But I just take that to be the progression of the disease. It doesn't go away. What worked before may not work now.

Being that, I still do not eat wheat because I know if I do the bleeding will return as well as the severe heel pain. It's like clockwork.
