I am in the middle of a 2-3 month crisis after no hospitalization for nearly a decade. My Crohn's has never been this bad and I just had my first injection of the new drug Cimzia today. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this treatment. Hopefully this more aggressive treatment will help me get my life back on track because I have radically change my diet and that hasn't really done the trick so this was the next step. Any info is good so thank you.:confused2:

Welcome kosher,

There are quite a few people on this forum taking Cimzia. You may want to search the treatment thread.... I'm sure someone will answer your question soon. Good luck, I hope you get things under control soon.

Hi kosher - I just gave myself my third loading dose of Cimzia yesterday and I have been flaring for over a month after coming off Remicade - The Remi was great for about 8 months but I had to stop it - severe joint pain so now I am on this one - not much relief so far but the Remicade took almost 3 months to kick in as I remember so I am trying to be patient and wait it out - My only problem is a bit of site reaction - big white raised circle but it goes away after a day or two - it is much more convienent than going to the clinic and being hooked up to an IV and waiting hours too... so that is about all I can tell you so far ...I hope it kicks in right away for you! And tomorrow for me! lol

Thank you for the info thus far. Hopefully you get some relief. I'm 25 so the convenience of Cimzia really appealed to me. I realize I can sift through the info in all the threads but I figured since there is a Humira and Remicade tread dedicated to each drug there could be one for Cimzia too. Why not? Anyway I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing Carolyn.

Hi kosher.
sorry for the fairs.
My wife has been on Cimzia for a few months. No real side effects. The shots are nasty, though, but once they're done, everything is happy.

She's taken 4 doses so far. I've heard that 7 is the magic number, but we'll see. I'd say so far that she is slightly better. Her energy level has been really good and her intestinal symptoms have been very slightly decreased.

Let's keep in touch, and keep Carolyn in the mix, too to compare notes.

I'm taking cimzia. I can't give myself the shots as they are too painful but they seem to be working rather well. I had an allergic reaction to remicade and ever since taking cimzia I have not had a reaction.

I haven't had inflammation or anything for a long time, mainly just remnant scar tissue from previous inflammation so really I don't know. It's kept me in remmision so I think that's a good sign. Sorry I can't be very much of help.
