Colonoscopy Tuesday

So the day is finally almost here. I have had a colonoscopy in the past but no biopsies were taken. How can I expect to feel after all this is done? Will I be sore? Also has anyone taken the pico-salax prep? I heard its only in Canada and the UK. I did the fleet prep last time and it was horrible! I had bad cramping and was up most of the night in discomfort.
Crossing my fingers they find the problem, they are thinking crohns because of my symptoms and family history.

Morning Tiffany - I can't comment on the pico prep.....but anything has to be better than go-lytely!

As for biopsies - I've had probably hundreds taken over the years....with my old GI, the sedation they used was the valium and demerol - so I was kind of awake - with that, I could feel a tug, no pain really except sometimes going around corners (but they gave me more meds if needed!).....BUT - expect to see a little blood in your first few BMs.....

With my current GI - she does take biopsies, but I don't feel a thing as they use the versed and propofol cocktail so I am OUT......again, a little blood after, but nothing major.

I do feel a little uncomfortable after from the air, (although almost all gets taken out again thankfully!), and from the procedure itself, but again, nothing major - I usually get something to eat on the way home, then spend the rest of the day in bed relaxing/sleeping.....

well i know its late but i liked to comment. when i had my colono back in apr. i honestly felt nothing after the prick of the needle containing my meds. n even when i woke up i felt more like drunk or tipsy at least until i got a good sleep. i honestly forgot alot of the details that happened before i slept just like being drunk.

Thanks for the help I'm Hoping the prep goes well. It's a very easy one. I drink half a cup of the pico at noon and again at 6 and take 2 pills at 10. I heard it doesn't taste too bad. Just sucks cause I'm already hungry and I'm stuck on a liquid diet on thanksgiving Monday. All I want is a turkey sandwich lol. At least my jello is just about ready.

Hi Tiffany I have had Pico salax a few times now. But my regimen is different from yours. I took two dulcolax the night before the liquids only, then the liquids only and took the one cup of Pico at 4pm and follow with a few cups of water to flush it out and the morning of the prep get up at 6am to take the second cup. Never heard of half a cup, just make sure you drink alot of water. The scope itself is pretty easy, my Gi gives lotsa drugs lol. Let us how you are making out with the prep.

The prep is alright so far. I just finished my last glass. But it is making me feel sick to my stomach so I had to take a couple gravol with each glass. This is still by far the best prep I have done.
