Hi everyone,
This problem is new to me...well kind of new. I have been having constipation problems for a couple of months now. I have a colostomy and so for years all I dealt with was very loose stools several times a day. The constipation thing really hurts and scares me. I am wondering what other people do for constipation problems with a colostomy. I tried Senekot and it did seem to work but I wound up taking a whole bottle in about 5 days. I don't want to keep doing that. Any suggestions?

Have you mentioned it to your GI? What did they suggest? I don't have a stoma myself so I'm hoping that moving your thread to the stoma sub forum will get you some more responses. Take care. :)

I honestly think you should speak to your GI. Most of us deal with the opposite problem!

If you continually have constipation, there must be something a bit off. I just think it would be a good idea to have it checked out. If I came up with a remedy..like apple juice, it would only be for a day that its sorted. You need to find out what is causing it.

Good luck and keep us posted!!
:)

Thanks Misty and Crabby, I am always lost when trying to figure out where to ask questions. Of course you are both right about seeing my GI doc. I avoid her at most costs because I know she will put me through a large battery of tests. Usually by the time I get an appointment and go thru whatever torture they give me...the problem has subsided. I may have to buck up and get my butt there. Thanks!
