I had my CT today, and I had to drink the contrast first and then they also did the IV. I'm not experiencing much more than some mild discomfort today, but I seem to have an awful lot of rumbling going on in my belly today. :eek2: I haven't been able to go to the bathroom today (pretty typical for me, I'm usually constipated and went yesterday so probably won't be able to today). :poo: My question is, has anyone had this with the contrast dye - the rumbling is loud and others can hear it (it's kind of funny). :lol2:

Are you talking about the injected contrast or the oral solution of contrast that you drink like 3 or so 1 liter bottles of?

I had both, but I'm assuming this rumbling is coming from the stuff I drank. It was only a large styrofoam cup full that I had to drink, probably about a liter I would suppose.

It's possible it's causing some stomach upset. Usually I need to empty often after getting oral contrast.

I didn't have a scintigraphy (contrast liquid and CT) since 2003 given that most hospitals now switched to MRIs nowadays to examine the smaller intestine. But I remember that contrast liquid (quite some) was injected over a tube through my nose directly through my stomach into the smaller intestine. And yes the rumbling remained for the afternoon as the air and liquid made its way down...
