Hi, I'm considering getting silicon implants in various parts of my body and was just wondering if this disease or the medication I'm taking could cause problems. I can't find anything that says surgeons won't operate on people with IBD, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything or has experienced this?

My crohns is fairly under control at the moment and I'm taking 2 injections of Humira every 2 weeks so I don't see the problem... but then again I'm not a doctor

Hmm breast implants should be fine. I wouldn't reccommend butt implants with IBD lol.
I laughed at that one :lol2: but I'm a guy so I wasn't really planning on either of those.

Being on Humira you may have a hard time getting a doc who wants to operate on you because your time to heal will be greatly reduced due to its immunosuppressive properties.

I would imagine it would also have a lot to do with how your blood tests look. Are you anemic? Are you low in other areas? Do you have elevated liver enzymes? I wouldn't think the implant procedure would be an issue, just how you heal yourself after.

I'm not anaemic and I don't think there are any other problems. Taking longer to heal would just mean waiting longer before resuming daily activities so... as long as I was willing to do that it should be fine right?

If you are doing well, it may really be a non-issue. Years ago, my daughter had to have a hernia repair while on a biologic. She never had to stop it, healed just fine and was doing headstands a day later. You might want to skip the headstands. :)
