Hi -

I noticed as of 2013 the cost of 2 humira shots has gone up to 2,745 at my pharmacy.

Has anyone noticed this? I used to have to pay 5 dollars, except for the First month where I have to pay 400 out of pocked. After that the coupon card applies to my deductible and brings the price down.

Because the Price of Humira has gone up I am now left with a 65 copay after my insurance and discount. Its not a horrible amount. Im just nervous they are going to continue raising the prices so we have to pay more out of pocket. I honestly dont know what I will do if they decide to stop using the coupon codes as there is no way I could afford it without it. It has been a miracle drug for me.

I also read an article that they are raising the prices as of 2013 slightly to discourage people into using cheaper alternative medications. Most likely due to the Insurance companies. In fact at our last Insurance meeting at work they specifically mentioned that they will be making it harder for people to allow them to be on injectables like humira! I felt like they were specifically pointing me out. They did say if you are a current user it will not effect you. We have another guy at work with MS and the prices for his injectables is probably tripple what humira costs.

For reference when I started last year the Cost of humira was 2200. Thats over a 500 dollar price increase since when I started.

I hope this trend does not continue. Do different pharmacies have different prices? Maybe I should change pharmacies. Are there options to have the humira shipped to you by mail? I know some insurance companies offer a slight discount but I would have to check mine.

thanks!

How they even compare Humira and other TNF blockers to the other medications is crazy. Again the Insurance companies are starting to screw us.

I cant wait for the day where the wealthiest company in the world will offer free healthcare to everyone. Unfortunately this is not likely to happen. People that are against are batshit insane. I wouldnt even mind paying slightly higher taxes to cover this. Im sick of people going into the E.R. and ending up Bankrupt because they cant afford, or dont have insurance.

I also recently witnessed my girlfriends brother being to refused to be admitted to a hospital because he did not have insurance! Which I thought this was illegal. Although you will end up with massive bills. He had a bad infection in his knee and saw his GP which in turned told him he had to go to the hospital for IV antibiotics and have his nee drained.

He ended having to go to Cook County in Chicago, although free or severely discounted, There is like a 6-10hr wait to even be admitted.

Sometimes I wonder what hell is wrong with people. I firmely beleave everyone should have access to affordable health care not matter what! I believed this before I had medical problems. I cant wait for the people that are so against socialed health care to end up out of work and then realize they are now in debt and possibly bankrupt.

Some people are just so dam ignorant!

I think Humira is becoming more of a recommended treatment for Crohn's. They sure have publicly advertised it more starting this past year (that I've noticed).

As to the increased cost and your share of it, it's really dependent on your company's cost-sharing structure. Your employer decides what co-pay structure to establish for prescription drugs.
