I was thinking today as I was dissecting my dinner...What kinds of strange, weird, crazy things will/do you do to the foods you want to eat..but really shouldn't ?

I'll start by sharing how I ate my (yummy) Fried fish sandwich and Onion Rings for dinner this evening. (we went to a restaurant btw)

Original order off the menu:
Famous Fried Fish Sandwich served with tarter sauce, Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle with a side of french fries.

Here's how I ate it after dissection:
Fried Fish: Peeled the majority of the beer batter off of the fish
removed lettuce tomato and onion and pickle ( l love pickles ! :eek2:)
added cheese
substituted plain mayonnaise for the tarter sauce (I can't handle the pickles in it~nor the lemon juice)
scraped as many seeds off the bun as I could
substituted Onion Rings for the french fries and as I ate them I pulled the Onions out of the middle and only ate the batter. ( I figured I could have this fried batter since I took off the beer batter from the fish!)

So basically I ended up with a piece of plain fish, (no seasoning), cheese (shouldn't have but I wanted "some" flavor!"), and mayonnaise on a dissected bun with some resemblance of what used to be onion rings on the side ! :rof:

Unfortunately...next time I will leave off the cheese ! I should have known better ! I still ended up with pain afterwards and could only eat half then, and the other half about 4 hours later ! :(

Soo....what crazy things do YOU do just to eat the foods you love ?? :ylol2:

I love this thread lmao !!
I've actually chewed food an spat it out just to have some kind of solid food in my mouth.
Normally I avoid food till I'm home at night then I will have whatever everyone else eats but manage 2 forkfulls an start hurting so I gotta stop .
I find myself obsessed by food , desperate to cook it and eat it , an watch ppl eating there food alot wishing it was mine lol

When I eat anything with carrots or celery in it, they end up in a big pile near my food. Can't stand the idea of putting those two things inside of me! LOL!! Sometimes I pick the top layer of the bun off when it has sesame seeds. Mine is mostly in my colon, so I don't have a lot of foods that freak me out. I do need to eat fewer carbs, though. I have found I have far less gass when I digest fewer simple carbs.

For me it's more what I do to eat away from home.
I had my first restaurant meal away from home that had any flavour tonight. I was at an Asian restaurant that offers freshly made food. The meal I ordered was a fried rice dish that usually comes with chicken, chinese sausage, eggs, onions, celery, carrots and peas in a sauce.
I asked if they started with plain cooked rice. The kitchen said that they did, so then I told them what I could have with the rice--plain cooked chicken, eggs, carrots, peas ( I specified round ones- not snow peas), no sauce, no oil. They asked about soya sauce; I said no sauce, just use water. It came out and looked and smelled delicious. I could tell that they used a little oil and there was some garlic flavour, but I ate it anyway--it was delicious! And so far I feel fine.

happy, I love fried rice and your little "recipe" there is making me want to go an order it the same way next time! :)

my roomie in college had pancreatictis and so we came up with all sorts of crazy things and my fave is baked dorritos with cream cheese.

Interesting thread. Hmm, well up until recent slight flareup I ate what I wanted in moderation and suffered for a few days after. Now I don't seem to get away with it though and need to be more careful what I eat. It's such a pain isn't it! Granted I don't think I have it as bad as many on here.

If it is something I really want, I'll have a little and just suffer. But not too often. The other day I was slicing up a red bell pepper for my son and I wanted some so bad that I ate a piece. I paid for it later, but I savored that pepper like you couldn't believe. Amazing how much I appreciated it considering when I can eat what I want, I don't care so much about eating fresh vegetables.

@Jenny...I'm glad it's not just me! I so wanted some dairy milk chocolate,I just took a big bite....but the thought of what happens next took over so I kept it in my mouth for a while then spat it out and rinsed my mouth. How foul...and can you imagine if anyone saw, they'd think I'd gone loopy... But it tasted really good. Can't think I'll do it often .. If ever cos I felt a bit disgusting!!
