Do Crohnies have bad eyesight? Choose the options that best fit you!

I use contacts and glasses, but I've been wearing my glasses since last fall because I ordered new contacts and they don't seem to fit properly. Slack me hasn't called to see if I can still return them for ones that do fit! I actually don't mind wearing glasses though. Less worry about extra bacteria getting into my eyes too ;)

I wear glasses
They are like bottom of jam jars
and i wear disposible contact lenses, but only when I get dolled up!

I wear glasses for the computer, for reading (two separate ones) and for driving in distance and NO I am not getting bifocals, has nothing to do with the age thing, just dont like them. Also I mentioned eye sight being affected because of Crohns and he knows people who have Crohns and says that isnt true. I have seeing issues but my eyes are healthy... and partially an age thing lol.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 21... have never tried contacts, though, am too freaked out about touching my eye.

Although..... SERIOUSLY... I just typed that and thought to myself... "You give yourself NEEDLES now... I'm sure you could manage contact lenses!"... I mean, I would still wear glasses at work... Really handy having glasses in the kitchen when things are splashing and spattering all over the place.

Thanks, Marisa, this poll now has me considering other vision options!! I have astigmatism... does anyone else have that and wear contacts??

I know they make contacts now for astigmatism! Acuvue is a popular brand that makes them here in the U.S. Not sure if you have them up there.

I, too, was nervous at first to try contacts, but it's not painful at all. I made the switch when I was about 16 and stopped wearing my glasses except for night time. Your eyes might water a bit the first week or so you try them from sticking them in, but once they're in (and fit properly!) you kinda forget about them. They are a lot more convenient for cooking and things. You don't have to worry about spatter and if you wear sunglasses you don't have to worry about switching from your regular glasses to Rx sunglasses or clipping on lenses.

I only wear my glasses for driving....my vision's only slightly compromised. I mostly have night vision problems.

I have LOUSY eyes, combination of near sightedness and astigmatism. Been wearing glasses since I was 7. And now as I get a bit older, FAR SIGHTEDNESS is creeping in to make it REALLY interesting. I always thought this inevitability would be good, canceling out the near sightedness. Nope. Anyway, I have worn toric soft contact lenses, which are made for people with astigmatism. They work quite well. They have little weighted areas at the bottom to keep them positioned in the right orientation on your eye for the astigmatism. They are a bit harder to fit, so make sure you have a good doc. The only thing with these is if you are laying on your side for a period of time, say, laying down while watching TV, they will shift on your eye so that the weighted areas are no longer at the bottom of your eyeball, and you vision will blur slightly. Mostly though they worked well for me. And really, the "touching your eye" thing is NOT a problem one you've worn them a couple times! :)

Oh BTW on the "Glasses or contacts not at the same time of course" - Not true! I find the best way for me to read is with contacts AND reading glasses!

I have had glasses for about two years. I am at the age when things begin to fall apart. I would like to get rid of them, but that would require more effort than I am willing to put forth, to see if that is possible.

I have selective vision. I only see what I want to see and ignore everything else.

Okay, I wear progressive bi-focals at work (safety glasses) and I had a pair of bi-focals for every where else but I lost them. Now for the computer I just wear a cheap pair of Walmart reading glasses to see to read.

Glasses, or a fun prescription mask while scuba diving. Not brave enough to try contacts yet.

I am Mr Magoo!

Hey Sharon
I wear one day acuvue, and throw them down the toilet at the end of the day! And they are more hygienic too, I don't get infections anymore.
I wore ordinary ones for years, urgh, al that cleaning, solutions and bottles! and floaters and bouncers, ameobas and flotsum on them! urgh!

HEY! The poll had the perfect vision choice on there. I'm happy that SOMEthing still works well on me!

I was also like Mr Magoo until 17 years ago at the age of 28 I had my eyes lasered. FAB!!!!!!!

I was soooooo shortsighted...and with astigmatism. I loved specs but wouldn't wear them because the lenses were so think that my eyes were p*ss holes in the snow.

Now I've got the reading problem starting but that's ok cos the laser left one of my eyes a little short-sighted so it compensates.

Wouldn't it be nice if Crohn's were so easy to fix? Sigh....

I should probably have glasses, but I am stubborn. I have blurry focus for distance, but I have no problems driving. I read for about 2+ hours every day due to my commute, and so I get sore eyes after a while, but I don't want to spend the money to get them checked, and then more money to get glasses (which I know I need). Oh well, maybe when I get some money saved up I might think about it!

I almost litterally can't see anything without my glasses/contacts (not at the same time, of course!). I had my eyes checked a few weeks back and I can't see ANY letters on the chart without help.... eeek!

:ylol2: This made me laugh... my husband is a nursing student, and he gets grossed out watching me put my contacts on!!!!

I've been wearing glasses for 22yrs now. I won't ever be able to wear contacts because I have prism in my glasses and my ophthalmologist says I'm not a candidate for Lasik eye surgery because of having Sjogren's syndrome. My eye sight is so bad I am only able to function in my house without my glasses, only if I had to. My glasses are attached to my face from the time I step out of bed until the time I lay in the bed.

Glasses rock!! I tried those weighted lenses for astigmatism and it just always felt like I had something in my eye and they would get so dry and jump out! My contacts rejected me :( So I gave up. Plus I never got the hang of putting them in and getting them out. I would get so mad and stomp around. One time when I was drunk I threw a candle jar at the wall because I couldn't get them out!!!
