crohns and gastro

I was just wondering if anyone on here has had gastro at the same time as crohns we are having a bout of gastro in my house and I have nowhere to go and can't afford a hotel I'm scared I got it cause i got the runs bad and severe stomach ache I got an appointment to the docs on thursday but not sure what to do in the meantime

What do you mean by "gastro?" You mean a stomach flu or food poisoning? That's not a common word 'round these here parts.

I think BOZA is shortening the term "gastroenteritis" (stomach virus).

Honestly I think one of the benefits of Crohn's is when you get something like that it is easier for you to cope... the symptoms aren't too different from the "usual." I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you are becoming severely dehydrated or can't eat, but the same would go for someone who doesn't have Crohn's. It shouldn't affect your disease process, if that's what you're worried about. It's good you will see your doc about it though, to confirm what it is.

In the meantime I would eat a mild diet and try to stay hydrated. Drink some sports drinks (e.g. Gatorade). Hope you feel better.

A diet commonly "prescribed" for people who have gastroenteritis is the BRAT diet. Some variations include bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, tea, and yogurt. Basically just things that are super easy to digest for a few days. It's a step above a liquid diet of just things like Ensure.
