Dear crohn's forums

I am suffering from a Crohn's disease inflammation, I have been having both dark and bright red blood when I go to the bathroom for the past 3 weeks. (mostly bright red)

I do not feel pain, I do not feel tired, but sometimes I feel disorientated and incapacitated.

I have unfortunately not taken my medication for a month and a half. A dear friend of mine committed suicide. I was studying for exams 24/7 in the library (so much stress) and just recently submitted a important coursework and finished exams, I am now free academically but health wise not :( mentally (my dear friend and the blood I am losing) not :( I wish I had kept on my medication religiously, I underestimated their importance, now I fear I have done something I might regret health wise which can ruin everything

I feel really worried, please help me and advice

Should I go to my specialist doctor?
Should I let my family know?
Should I keep taking my medication atm and hope everything gets better in 1-2 weeks if not go see the doctor?
Will my medication be less effective for me to reach and maintain remission now?

Pentasa x3 twice a day
Salofalk x1 twice a day
Folic acid x1 once a day

Hello Pineapple man,
So sorry that you lost your friend.
You have been having a very stressfull time of it, kudos for finishing the coursework and the exams.
It is not the best thing to stop taking meds abruptly as you have now discovered.
Is it possible for you to speak with your GI and tell him/her your story., and get advice.
It might be advisable prior to resuming meds, although you could probably could do so.
It might be a good idea to share with your family if you think they will be supportive and helpful to you.
It's not the end of the world to stop taking meds, people do but then may regret it.
If you are losing a lot of blood you really should see your GI specialist as soon as possible., or even go to the ER.
Who knows, they may want to change your meds.
Also GI's are familiar with patients who stop meds, so you will not be the first.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes
Trysha
