Hello All,

So I have been getting worse at lightening speed in the last two months. The degradation that used to take months, has speeded up 10x or so. The severity of a weekly or monthly flare has turned into months and my new reality.

I have noticed slowly that my sense of taste is really starting to go. First, it was because I really found everything acidic. Then, I started making everything extra sweet. After that I lost interest in wine, which is a passion of mine. Finally, I find myself losing interest in eating. I am finally considering liquids and ensure as an option, which for a foodie feels like the last step.

The last straw has been my wedding anniversary dinner this weekend. I got a beautiful piece of hand marinated smoked trout in a mint and honey reduction. I couldn't taste any of it. I was sure the reduction was oil because it was so bland. My husband tasted it and said it was amazing, and that it tasted like a mojito!!!

:ywow:Is this possible?! Has anyone dealt with this before and does it go away???!

I've noticed that my sense of taste goes off when I'm very anemic - food often tastes saltier than it really is, even plain water. So for me the Crohn's flare doesn't directly knock my taste out of whack, but it does cause the anemia which in turn messes up my sense of taste.

My sense of taste & smell is nonexistent.....we're now exploring the possibility that it's a side effect of Humira! Could it possibly be a side effect of the meds that you are taking???
