I do not have crohn's. I don't even have an IBD or any issues. My girlfriend has crohn's. She was diagnosed about a year ago. I am going to contribute and frequent this website on her behalf. I feel uneducated about a major portion of her/our life and seek constant information. I also feel that my girlfriend is scared about her semi-new condition. She avoids information and kind of falls into the "if I don't know it wont hurt me" category.
With the preamble out of the way, I would like to educate the forum on her condition and some questions. She has been diagnosed for about a year now. It "started" when she developed a pain in her buttocks. The pain turned out to be a fistula. The fistula was diagnosed and eventually treated by placing a seton. Her seton has been mildly painful and has constantly drained since its placement (placement was recent to her diagnosis of crohn's).
I don't want to rant on my first post, so to the point. She has had a seton in since around the time of her diagnosis of crohn's and a fistula. Call it a year with a seton. She had the whole antibiotic regiment and meds and what not. She is not YET on humira. With her seton still in and (within a week) having had a check up on the seton with the determination to keep it in and review in 6 months. I am searching for understanding. From the forum's members with similar situations how has this gone for you? How long do setons stay in complicated cases? What can we do to help the situation besides sitz baths? Any and all advice is very beneficial and I thank you in advance.
