All,
I had a TI resection on Jan 26th (about 8 days now). I was supposed to have only 3 cm of my dead TI section, however when the surgeon went in, he noticed another 10 cm that had fatty tissue building. So, he took 13 cm and closed me up. My recovery has been going what I am told is "normal". I have had a lot of issues from the recovery room on dealing with air pockets building in my stomach (especially when I lie down for more than 20 minutes or so). I have been sleeping in an upright position until I get rid of one of the symptoms that I am curious about, indigestion. Basically, the pain is not that big of a problem, but I have had the air/indigestion ever since the surgery (never an issue before). I just want to know how long until I might expect it to go away?....it is getting just a tad annoying. That is even with constant Pepcid (2 every 12 hours of Pepcid AC) and some nausea meds (but it is pretty much indigestion). Also, I still have a distended stomach....how long until that goes away? I understand the area that was re-attached, but almost my whole stomach is distended. Sorry if this doesnt come off right, but hopefully somebody can understand and help with their own experience....preferrably another laproscopic experience.

My surgery was over 10 years ago. The only complication that I have personal experience with is infection. My stomach was hot to the touch, in a lot of pain and I began vomiting on the 8th day. Watch out for nausea and fevers as they aren't generally good signs.

What did your GI say about all of your symptoms? I'm just curious as to what they say/think it is.

Welcome to the forum! :D

When I left they were saying it was all part of the healing. But, i am having indigestion that could lead to nausea without drugs...but I havent not taken the drugs yet. Also, I have been having a low grade fever each night (up to 100.2 ish...which is better than 2 nights ago, when it went up to 101.5 for a bit) that is gone after a restless nights sleep. I am seeing my PCP in the AM for a superficial vein thrombosis (blood clot from IV's) to be safe, and also will bring up the fever, esp since I theorize I might have a minor UTI /shrug. But, the PCP is not for the "normal" symptoms...thus my post before i call my doctor back and be a pain :)

I was given a course of Omeprazole after my surgery, to prevent me getting stomach ulcers or something? ask your doctor for it

A lot of people are being given antibiotics these days after their surgery to help prevent infection although it doesn't sound like you're taking any. Were you given any? There's nothing wrong with calling your doctor and asking them questions. You aren't being a pain/bugging them/being a difficult patient/etc. All you want is for things to go smoothly and be well and that's perfectly understandable. If you do call, I'd suggest doing it before the weekend starts.
