Does anybody that has Crohns have flu like symptoms that come and go? I have these flu like symptoms a couple of times a month, then I will go a month and won't have any. The flu like symptoms last from 1-2 weeks at a time, when I get them and then go away like I never had anything and I feel normal again. The symptoms just to be specific are head congestion, foggy brain, head slightly hurts, head feels like it is bigger than normal, can't concentrate at all, forget what I'm doing or going to say when I'm talking to somebody and just feel dead tired. Also my chest hurts almost constantly where my heart is. I have done more research than you can imagine and can't find anything about this. The last time I went to my doctor he just said it was probably because I have Crohns. That really helped alot:( I am so aggravated trying to figure out what is going on. Any help would be appreciated.
Medicines I'm taking are Lialda, very good multi vitamin, b12, CQ10, ginger.

Problem is, it is very likely it is just the crohn's. Because crohn's is systemic, it can cause all of these and there isn't really a lot you can do about it. You may need to get your doctor to adjust your meds, or change them to see if you can move towards remission.

Thanks for your reply. I am so overwhelmed with this stuff thinking all kinds of crazy stuff like I have cancer and stuff like that. It just scares me so bad you can only imagine. I have always been a worry wart and when this is happening to me and my doc just says it's because I have Crohns and does not go into detail, I feel as though he doesn't care.

Hello,
It most likely is the Crohn's. I have something similar to what you describe. I was once ill for 8 weeks straight, i felt awful and the doctors ruled out every infection/cause so it came down to it just being part of the Crohn's systematic effects, which sucks i know. You can't do much but just try to get on with things, but remember to rest as well cos sometimes its your body telling you it needs rest.

Make sure your vitamin levels are high enough. Although you are taking a supplement sometimes they may not be absorbed properly so if you are deficient then could cause you to feel ill and groggy.

Don't break open your vitamin capsules, the capsules are there for a reason.
The solution inside the capsule may not be meant for swallowing and you risk it causing irritation to your oesophagus or stomach.
So unless it says you can dissolve it in water i wouldn't, read the information leaflet it comes with.

Problem is that if your body is not absorption things correctly then its not the fault of the vitamin but the bowel. Sometimes no matter how many you take it just won't be absorbed, thats what happened with me, the vitamins were there just not being taken it.
The only way to know is via a blood test thou.

As for the sleeping i can't really help you on that, i sleep no matter what haha maybe that is all your body needs? Sometimes just lying in bed reading a book is helping your body rest. Sorry i can't be more useful!

Oh ok I understand. I didn't think of that. I guess I will just keep getting the two hours sleep I get and deal with it. Maybe eventually, my body will want to sleep more.
Thanks for your help:>)
