Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed with crohns roughly a year and a half ago(christmas eve of all nights). My question is: does anyone have crohns without diarrhea or chronic pain? I'll admit I have occasional flares, as I am currently experiencing one now. But for the most part, my main symptom is NAUSEA, along with sour stomach, loss of appetite, and sometimes constipation. The nausea I experience is the worst!! I never vomit, but it can last for days at a time, and then vanish for no apparent reason. I do have a stricture, and I've had it since my diagnosis. I'm on humira and pentasa, and they seem to do the trick for the pain/inflammation. Anyone else struggling with nausea and sour stomach?

I have those.
I mostly have weight loss, bleeding, diarrhea/constipation (mostly constipation), fissure, Nausea like no ones business which I take meds for, and loss of appetite.
I get the stomach cramps/bloating/ pain as well but I also have moderate endometriosis and I am working on learning what symptom is for what.

It's definitely possible to have Crohn's without diarrhea or pain. It just depends on your type of disease and how aggravated it is. I struggle with nausea but Zofran really helps me control it.

I also take zofran 4mg-sometimes 8mg if it's bad enough. My doc actually put me back on entocort today and I already feel better. I think eventually I'll need to get the stricture surgically fixed, but we shall see.

Hi William,

I have exactly the same symptoms as you with my Crohns. I was diagnosed in March this year. I could have weeks of feeling nauseated and with lack of appetite and sour stomach and then all of a sudden it would vanish. Very rarely would I have diarrhea, however would sometimes get constipation I agree the nausea is the worst and I have never vomited from it, my GI hasn't advised me if I have a stricture or not, however I have just commenced Humira yesterday. How long have you been on Humira for?

I have the exact same symptoms as you William. Although I don't have diarrhea much and I haven't seen much change in my appetite. Aside from the medication for the nausea, what else do you do seems to help alleviate your sour stomach? What kind of diet do you have? Are you taking anything over-the-counter like Pepto-Bismol or Tums? I used to chew to 500 mg of Tums to help calm my stomach in the morning because it just to sour and sickly feeling. But now it doesn't seem to help either.

Thanks for any advice that you can give me!

Actually, your symptoms sound very valid to me. I'm glad that the entocort is helping you. Nausea is a common symptom with strictures, has your GI mentioned the need for treating it?

My daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's earlier this year and she has none of the classic GI symptoms. Because of this we were particularly blindsided by the diagnosis. I'm actually grateful every day that Crohn's for her doesn't mean suffering as much as it could.

I never had any symptoms at all. Until that evening I had tremendous abdominal pain and I went to the ER. They thought I had appendicitus and wanted to take me to surgery. But I said no. The next day they told me I have Crohns.

Irony: The night I was admitted to the hospital was also Christmas Eve. :eek2:

That was exactly how I was diagnosed except it wasn't Christmas Eve and I did have the operation.

OP, I am so thankful that I don't have D with my crohns
