My son has Crohn's and was diagnosed with Mononucleosis few weeks ago. Did anyone go through this? how long it take you to recover? Any tips on how to help with the recovery?

I can'
t go to kids sections because he is 21 years old, so I thought this was a good forum. I'm really lost how to use this site, I posted on two different occasions but got 1 response each time. Maybe what I'm asking is unusual?

@anitapw, my son had mononucleosis but he does not have Crohns. it took him about 2 weeks before the fever and sore throat got better and about 3 months before he was able to go back to normal activities. My son was 22 when he got the mononucleosis. Though he felt normal after 2 weeks and can do normal stuff, the doctor still advised him to avoid strenous activities and contact sports. I think it is to avoid raptured spleen. He was not given any antibiotics, because the sore throat was not due to strep, they let the fever ran its course.

During the 2 weeks that he had the fever and sore throat, he was able to eat soup and liquids only so I tried to make it as nutritious as I can. Beef broth with lots of vegetables and fruit smoothies. Also, try to rest and get as much sleep as you can.

I had mono back in high school, I don't recall having any additional problems as far as recovery time, degree of illness etc.....I was a Junior in high school, and of course I was sick during exams (which I still managed to take and pass for the most part).
