I am new to the forum, and signed up because I am currently dating someone with Crohn's. I have done quite a bit of research on this topic, and am trying to educate myself best I can, so I can better understand what is going on with her. She recently referred me here, and so far I have found a lot of information. I am curious what others have to say on the topic of being involved with someone who has Crohn's and how they handle things, and anyone willing to offer advice would be much appreciated.

First good for you! Happy to see you research.. now everything changes good then bad then better. It's so hard to say what others go though my cousins wife has it and has helped me alot now the roll has reversed. I have recommend remicade she was recently in the hospital after being on the same medication I was. I hope she follows up with her doctor. people are scared of different procedures and treatment as I am , but I'm getting use to experimenting with what works for me. my life has changed, a lot, but I still love it and live it everyday; and to provide that happiness to each other is truly a great gift.

I am not dating anyone with crohns. I have crohns. But i can say this everyone with crohns disease is affected by the disease differently. I have a mild case and have had no surgeries to date. Being supportive emotionally is the most important thing. These are a few of the things i've needed support on from my husband.

-frustration with medication not working
-scared of side effects of medication
-dealing with exhaustion and pain from cramping
-depression from being scared about the future with having crohns (beginning of diagnosis)

If you love and support the person your with thats all you can do.
