Hello everyone,

Well, I had a colonoscopy yesterday, which I was sedated for, but not General. I was aware of everything, and do remember most of it. I remember it being quite painful in some areas, specifically when he was getting the camera around bends. He got all the way through the colon, and in to the connection between the large and small intestine. I wanted to go in to the small, but he tried, but could not get in to it.

Anyway, I have just woke up the day after, and I am finding it quite sore to move around whilst lying down and standing. It feels that I have been punched in my lower stomach and also punched in the groin. Is this normal? I presume that It could be bruising?

Also, I was in similar pain before I went in to hospital yesterday, but I put this down to the laxative.

Is this all normal?

Thanks

I believe so. I always have some sort of pain the next day or so after a colonoscopy. If you are worried about it though, you may want to call your doctor just to ease your mind.

I'd check with the doctor, I wound up in emerg. / outpatients with a blockage after a colonscopy earlier this year.

Harry, I resolved after the last colonoscopy to take the following day off work the next time! I had alot of biopsies taken and my colon felt like a very used punching bag. Mind you, I DIDNT take any prep and I still felt that way. Also had alot of blood. The next day I was fine though. However, it was the beginning of a flare alas!

If you still dont feel right as the day goes on, or you feel worse, go to the Dr or emergency room. Sometimes small perforations can occur in strictured areas with a colonoscopy and you dont want to mess with that!

Thank for the support guys. It seems to have eased off. I just hope I don't wake up tomorrow in pain. I have been to the toilet a couple of times, and passed some wind, and I think that has helped. We will see in the morning I guess!

Thanks
