:( There back!

Grace suffered for years with horrendous gas pains before being dx and being treated. It's been at least a year and a half since nightly gas pains.
Since six months old she lived of off extra strength gas-x.

They've come back and it's just as horrible to watch.
She's completely tube fed, so no foods to cause this.

If you or your child has this type of problem with gas, what do you think causes it?

What do you do to help the pain?

Talk to her go since she has a tube now.
There are thing that they can tell you to do with the tube etc..,

It does not seem her gas is in her stomach, I vented her tube and no gas came out but lots of yellow bile did.

Are you positive its gas pains? I would at the very least call her GI. Hope she feels better soon

Yes, I think it's gas. She draws up her leg and tries to pass it.
She was able to pass a bit and it helped but didn't last long.
It happens at night, just like a few years ago.
I will call the GI on Monday.:)

Happened for the fourth night.
Painful gas pains but now I notice her bm's are causing pain and I saw two for sure and maybe a third fissure. I HATE FISSURES!!!!:ymad:

Plus both big toes are red at the top and painful. The skin looks like it's going to peel. She also has another red spot pop up under the skin on the arch of her foot.
Thankfully we have a doc appointment soon.
Always something.

Have a good Sunday y'all.

She's worse today.
Meant with GP who ordered labs, chest and abdominal X-Rays and to increase the pred even more. We home awaiting results.

Not how I wanted Monday to go. Poor Grace is asleep in her medical stroller holding her throw-up bowel. Here's hoping it's all virus.:confused2:

Feel so bad for you cos we are Dealing with the same issue here. Amy seems to be in a flare up which always seems to happen this time of year. Night times are the worst and we have found gas x doesn't seem to do a lot. So frustrating.

Thanks, the labs normal (as always) the chest xray is clear (Thank God) but the x-ray shows no constipation but DOES show gas pockets.

Is gas pockets normal on an x-ray? What can cause them?

It's interesting because of all the intense pain the gas is causing her at night.

No advice on gas. :( Did the doctor give you any ideas on how to alleviate it a bit?

You really need to talk to her Gi
Has can be normal or abnormal depends on where /how much etc...
Whether she was crying earlier in the day ( ie bad stomach has so tears etc..)
Lots if things to consider
Your doc -Gi not gp needs to review the X-rays

A has had awful gas after scopes. The best thing for her was moving....exercising. As much as she didn't want to it helped to work the gas out. If Grace can't be super physical (like dancing, jogging, swimming, etc.) maybe she could do some light stretches like kiddie yoga. Check YouTube for some fun and easy ones.

The pains are so bad she cries and begs for help.
She did this for years. They happen mostly at night.
So I'm guessing that the moving around during the day helps it get out.

Tess, I've been told by the GI and GP gas-x is the best to give. I had to laugh as she was on extra strength ADULT gas-x since three months old.

She had a bm but I had to use a suppository to get it out.:confused2:

MLP
In the past when I've brought up gas pains with the GI it never seemed that important to him. However we have it on xray now so maybe he'll think different.
We meet the new GI in August, is it to much to think that things will stay calm until then.:ybatty:

New Gi???
Are you switching to Mott's?

Suppository - I thought she was on daily miralax /senna to have a BM??
Plus pred /EEN can constipate ??
Was she on pred before ? I thought she weaned off with the humira /Mtx months ago

I tried a little tummy massage yesterday which helped for a little while, but by bedtime she was moaning and crying again, and finally fell asleep with the aid of Melatonin. Does anyone know how to tell if your kid has fissures? Visually I can't see anything, but unless her BM is super soft, she says she feels like a knife is in there and I have seen blood on tp and dripping into the bowl before.

GI is leaving the practice in August. Her new GI will be the head of the department.

Grace was able to get "regular" even on EEN but the flare hit and she went back to constipated and miralax.

Grace weaned off her low dose pred.....finally a month ago.

Now she's on a burst for five days.

She uses liquid glycerin suppository. There not medicated and work great.

Aww poor Grace! When Devynn has gas pains she uses her rice bags and I try to get her to lie face down with her bum in the air.. it seems to move the gas.

I'm sprinkling frowny faces all over the forum tonight. :( :( :(

I hope she feels better.

Hope she is doing better. Two things that help with gas.
1. Lay with head on pillow and bum up in the air for five to ten minutes.
2. Rock in a rocking chair
Gas pains really are hard to deal with. I am wondering if she could possibly have decreased motility like Caitlyn. Has she ever had her motlility checked?
Severe constipation, gas pains, and belching can all be signs of this.

Thanks everyone.
Yes Kim, she has mobility issues but we've never tested. I guess with everything going on that was put on a back burner to another day.

I do have one question for you Kim or anyone who knows, can lack of mobility come and go?

Update
Grace is doing great. I feel the meds have finally kicked in.
She still has a bit of stomach problems and the odd pain in the rump
and minimal joint pain but it's far better than it was.

The farm is in full swing and my time is limited on here.
Just know I think and pray for your kids often.

Hello, this might help. Try laying down on one side for 10/15 minutes then the other side. Often for some reason one side can bring more comfort then the other. This somehow helps the gas move along.
Hope she feels better soon.
