Hello all,

I have recently been suffering with numerous problems over the last month including tiredness, abdo pain, nausea, dia and bleeding. I have recently been to my GP and she seems to think that I am suffering with depression and has put me on a course of anti depressants. Looking for tips or advice on how to cope.

Hi,
You may be depressed if your having all those problems and it could be making them worse. I was on anti depressants late last year after a bad flare and a loss of a family member. I was in complete denial about being depressed though and until I accepted the fact I did struggle. I always find writting helps as sometimes I write about how I feel and it makes me realise yes I do feel pretty bad. Do you feel like you are depressed? I did find the tablets helped me but it takes a few weeks for them to take effect so don't feel disheartened that it's not an immediate thing. Hope you start to feel better soon x

It's easy to get depressed and anxious with all the hardships we face with this disease. Anti depressants may be helpful but take 2-3 months to work fully. In the mean time keep busy and surround yourself with supportive ppl.

Have you tried talking to someone a friend, counselor or tried going to a support group? If you speak to your GP there are groups for people coping with long term illness and also on the website www.nacc.org.uk have monthly group meetings around the country.
It's easy to feel these things when you are so sick. Has your dr suggest any other treatment to help your symptoms? As that may help with getting you in a better place mentally x

Hello, yes I attend nacc support meetings but this has all happened since the last meeting. I write to out local support group for help and advice but somehow i find myself still struggling. Normally im ok this time its just too much to handle in a horrible place.
