I saw my GI this morning and today at 2:30 I will be getting dilated under anesthesia. I also had my first Cimzia today and it really isn't bad. It doesn't hurt much at all. The worst is about 30 seconds after when you feel the medication stinging as it moves throughout the body.

The worst thing right now is that I'm starving and extremely thirsty. I will keep all of ya'll updated on what is going on in the next couple of days. I will probably be home tonight and I will probably talk to ya'll tonight but I don't know how coherent I will be when I do so sorry about anything strange that I post tonight. Talk to ya'll later.

Hey guys the procedure went well. My rectum was measured at 6cm when a normal rectum is 20cm. They ballooned my butt and now I'm in quite a bit of pain and discomfort although that should pass within the next few days. I'm amazed that my bm's are now normal size or at least about normal because part of my rectum is still a little inflamed. I'm taking some lortab right now but tomorrow I will have a suppository that has opium in it to take away the pain. It should help to the point that I only need two a day. Thanks for the thoughts.

Thank you. Me too. This has been my only symptom besides the odd abscess which is most likely caused by my rectum narrowing to the point where my stool gets too backed up. I really hope the cimzia takes affect and keeps me open for a good long time.

Wow Jeff no wonder you were suffering!

Glad things went well and you have some decent pain meds to use too.

Hope as Steve says things last for a long time.

((hugs))

Actually some new news. My rectum was 8mm large. They couldn't fit the smalest balloon in me. I"m now at 20cm though.

Wow -I didn't realize that they had to put you under everytime they dialate you.
You might want to make a seperate thread as a Cimzia log. I know that a lot of us haven't been on that one yet, but may be looking toward it soon, as we fail other meds.
Any idea how long Cimzia takes to kick it and start working? Will it help with your need for dialation?
Good luck, feel better.

Have they mentioned anything about stents? If the stricture keeps reforming despite dilatation, they can build a stent in there to keep everything open. Hopefully you shouldn't need something like that anyway.

I've got part two of my dilatation at the end of this month, but have has a massive improvement from just the first stage.

Thanks for the support guys.

They needed to put me under because I was to tight to dilate without anesthesia. They said they knew I was in pain even with it because my legs would straighten and get really tense and I was waking up during the process.

They didn't talk to me about stents, probably because the stricture starts from the top joint of a finger. They ballooned me so hopefully that helps as well as the starting of the Cimzia.

I will post a Cimzia post as I don't think anyone on this forum is on it.

Thanks again for the support, you don't know how much it means.

Jeff,

Good wishes on your recovery. I have a big interest in how you do as I'm having this procedure soon. Looking forward to details.

Blessings,
Robin

Thanks.

I have been doing better. My stool size has increased by about four or five times. It hurts a lot right now when I go use the bathroom but other than that I'm doing okay. Make sure you get some pain pills because you will need them the days after. My GI gave me a B+O suppository which takes a bit of time to kick in but when it does it really kicks in. Just make sure you wet your fingers a little bit and rub the suppository a little as it makes it break down faster. Also, some analprem will help keep the area a little numb. Let me know when the date gets closer when you get this done. Are you getting ballooned and where. Best of luck

hey whats a B+O suppository do? is it like a pk for your butt to help with pain during BM? i am DEFINITLY interested in that

It's an opitate based pain med that you insert up your butt. You just have to make sure you wet your hands a little and get it barely moist so that it breaks up faster. It took an hour to completely break down when I didn't do that. It didn't seem to work at first but then about two hours later I was completely out. I slept extremely well. It lasts about 12 hours so you can't drive during that period but it helped a lot by putting me to sleep. Good luck with it. Also, it needs to be refrigerated.

Hey guys, I had another dilation torday. I woke up at 4 something in the morning with horrible left side pain. So we went to the ER. On the way my dad got pulled over by a cop and while I was already amidsy a panic attack I lost it at this moment. The thing that gets me is that he didn't offer to give us an escort but it didn't really matter too much. I got there and now they are talking about cutting me open and putting in an ostomy. I'm going to be calling a GI at Vandy on Monday so I can hopefully get in some time at the end of the week or next week. He is Vandy's expert on Perianal Crohn's and at the moment thats what I need. I just started to get a little more aware of what's going on but I"m doing a little better now.

Hope everyone is doing well

Jeff

I feel like I have been hit by a car right now. My girlfriend has been wonderful and she made me soup today and just left a little bit ago because she needs to go to school tomorrow. I'm taking tomorrow off and I'm not sure about Tuesday. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope you are feeling okay.
