Disability

Is anyone here curently on disability? If so what was your experience in obtaining it? Or maybe your currently trying to get it? Any advice would help!

yes i won my case but i was told that it was mainly do to my age but it still took almost 2 yrs plus a lawyer who got 6 grand and i have had crohns for over 30 yrs ....I consider my self at 56 to be lucky to get it .....But I have been in the ER 15 times in the last 5 years for 3 or 4 day stays ...

My mom got me on disability originally because I was a minor but once I was in college they tried to stop giving it to me like I was better or something so I got a lawyer. Took about 2 months to get disability back. My advice? Get a lawyer because they don't get paid till they win your case and Social Security hates dealing with lawyers and tends to award payment to those who have a lawyer.

I am 46 and have been on disability for 10 years.My Dr. told me to apply and I got it on the first try with no lawyer.I think it depends a lot on how progressed the disease is and medical records.It certainly helps to have a caring Dr.I never would have thought to apply at my age.Good luck to you.:hang:
