Do u let your bag hang out at home ?

When ur relaxing in front of the tv do you let it hang out or keep it covered in front of partner/kids?
 
I don't have it hanging out, but I have it a bit loser than I would normally do by taking off my waistband etc. The only time it truly hangs out is when I'm in bed because I don't want anything restricting it if it gets full or balloons.
 
when im on my own in my room just chillin n stuff then i just sort of let it do whatever it wants... lol but otherwise its tucked away.
 
I am definitely guilty of letting it all hang out when I am relaxing on the couch.
I wear long tops and shirts and don't tuck the bag in. So when I am on the couch, the top rides up and the bottom of the bag is often exposed somewhat.
My boy is completely unfussed by it - he's just happy that I am back home and getting better.
 
I let mine hang out...not in front of the kids, but in front of my fiance I do.
 
I'm still getting used to the bag and tend to let it hang more than when it's tucked it. though if my mom is around I try to keep it tucked.
 
I let it hang out about 50% of the time. My husband says he should be allowed to let his stuff hang out too! ;)
 
I let my bag hang out when I'm at home - personally, I don't feel it's anything to feel guilty about, my friends and family don't even notice it anymore.
 
Always hidden. With Ollie the parastomal hernia and destroyed abs, I shall always remain hidden as a nun.
 
I have a pouch cover/belt situation which I wear at all times except for sleeping. but it's never actually tucked in.
 
I often let mine out when I am home. I don't do it with family, I do it with my boyfriend though... I mean, he is used to see it so I don't feel bad about it when I am home.
 
mine is always covered but at home i'm usually wearing big baggy pj bottoms that pull over the whole thing anyway so nothing is restricted.... obviously my partner has seen it cause he lives with me but i'm not 100% comfortable with having it out in front of him even if i wanted to lol.
 
I am new to having a stoma and i have only been out of hospital for 2 days but even when i was in hospital to now at home, im hanging my baggy free to breathe, also for the fact i live alone helps :)
 
hahaha I've always wondered this about others with a bag.. I keep mine hidden sometimes my shirt rides up and my kids will look and say eeeewwww mom!! I cover it. Honestly I can't stand looking at my bag as long as I dont see it I forget I have it until it fills with air. My daughter always touches my tummy and hears the crinkles of it and lifts my shirt to see what it is. She smiles at me. Sometimes I'm embarrased because she tries lifting other peoples shirt to see if they have a bag, I totally know she's looking for it on others because she always looks back at me in confusion. she's 1.
 
OMG - that is so adorable. A crinkly bag makes her mum very special.
I love it when my kitten walks on my tummy and the bag makes a crinkle sound.
As long as there are no claws!!
 
Oh that's adorable! I don't have a bag, but I have a similar cute story - I was in the bathroom stall in the airport one time, and a little toddler (whose mom was on the john) crawled under the divider between the stalls to see what was on the other side - me!! Cracked me up. Kids are wonderful. They don't get embarrassed and they want to know about everything!
 
So good to hear about the cat & bag! I haven't read anyone else mentioning that but my poor cat doesn't understand why he can't snuggle on my lap anymore. I cant explain to him that his pick picking (or pawing I've heard some call it) before he gets comfy is just too likely to cause a burst bag and he has a fetish for plastic too so he'd probably want to sit right on the bag! Recipe for disaster...
I am a hanger out too when it comes to being at home. I live alone so its not a problem and like others I find restriction of the bag only increases the potential for leaks or bursting. It's also summer here and when it's all tucked in it gets so hot with warmed plastic bag against already hot skin...ugh!

Someone should make a little sling for the bag so when you wanna hang bag out its not freewheeling when your walking around (pulls on sore stoma skin) but still gets air flow to skin...

My other two cats lounge near the bag - but are too big for my lap.
It's only Little Pixie (spoilt little princess) that fits and is allowed on my lap. She never uses her claws - only soft little kitten paws. Means I still get lots of kitty cuddles.
She also waits for me when I do my middle of the night bag empty. She crawls back in to bed with me and gives me cuddles to help me get back to sleep.
She is adorable.
 
I miss my cat lap warmer! If only he wasn't such a picker....I bought him his own special soft fluffy bed as a consolation prize & he does sleep in that right by me but I still find it hard looking into his pleading little cat face and having to say no. He's also pretty old so these are his habits of a lifetime...poor Gussie boy!

Won't be long till I've had my reversal done he can pick and smooch in his rightful place again.
 
I had Little Pixie on my lap this morning and my Stoma gurgled and made some of it's usual squeaky noises. The cat was intrigued, gave it a bat with her paw and then tried to bite it!
She's a little scamp that Pixie!
 
I am so surprised that it can be left out outside - noone ever told me that lol. Mine is always held firmly in place, usually inside my underwear. I can't stand it flapping and pulling. I don't know it is there most of the time. Doesn't it pull when you turn over in bed or aren't you afraid to accidently pull it when sitting around?
 
As Lilly says being tucked in would really restrict flow and cause leaks for me. I wear a belt with mine so no danger of it coming off when I turn over in bed.
 
i bought pj pants a size up so when i go to bed i pull my pants up over the top edge of the bag and then slighly tightened the cord, i sleep on my side and all good :) bag only pulls when i have it out and it is getting half full, but feels good to have it out when sitting down, when im walking around i either tuck into pants or i have wear a band that is designed for hernias i think, that works well :)
 
Always tucked away, even in bed. I do tend to balloon an awful lot during the night, but thankfully it never seems to leak, whilst sleeping. I do know a young guy who has a stoma and I bumped into him in hospital the other day and I noticed the bottom of the bag hanging out over his clothes. I just assumed he had forgot to tuck it in after going to the toilet and so I looked down and quietly told him and he said he always has it out :ywow: Horses for courses I guess :ysmile:
 
10+ weeks out from surgery now and the longer I have had it, the more I go untucked. I wear long shirts when I go out of the house, but I use a bag cover just in case it is exposed.

Like others have said, there is no shame having a bag and I'd rather leave it unrestricted.
