So we are once again looking for a new GI doctor. :(
I need suggestions for GIs in South Florida.
Cleveland clinic won't see anyone under 18.

Put a call into The old GI that we liked who felt that he couldn't manage the GP to see what he can advise us.

Isn't there any where else within 3-4 hours drive ?
I know that tends to be the limit .
Or are you just looking for less than an hour
Given the complexity of her disease it may be in your best interest to travel and the limitations on your insurance .
I know farmwife travels over 3 plus hours for her GI.

What about mayo ?
Or where dancemom goes ?
Have heard marvelous stories about her GI from multiple parents not just Ibd .

Our GI is amazing! Our new Immunologist (different hospital) really raved about him and she isn't the type to talk highly unless she really means it. The hospital is clean, modern, and very cheery. They are family-centered and that really does make a difference. We only travel about an hour and 15 minutes (with lots of tolls) but I would travel further for this care if need be.

We have to travel, only two kiddy hospitals and both down state. Ya think they would get one up here:ymad:

You know Kim I'm a fan of mayo but that's more of a second opinion. I think she may be too young for the one in Florida. Am I wrong? I didn't think they were pediatric?

Mayo Clinic works with hundreds of insurance companies and is an in-network provider for millions of people. In most cases, Mayo Clinic doesn't require a physician referral. Some insurers require referrals, or may have additional requirements for certain medical care. All appointments are prioritized on the basis of medical need.

Mayo Clinic Children's Center includes all Mayo Clinic locations — Minnesota, Arizona and Florida — and Mayo Clinic Health System, with the majority of services provided in Minnesota.

For more information on how to make an appointment at Mayo Clinic Children's Center:

MLP,
We are looking into where Dancemom goes. We have looked into Mayo clinic they do not take our insurance but under special circumstances we can see them for a consult but it would require a bunch of hoops to jump through.
We decided first to speak with her old doctor and see what he has to say. We actually liked him. He is pretty decent except for his heavy accent which makes him a bit hard to understand. But he figured out the GP in the first place and the hospital he is affiliated with just got an A rating. The hospital which Caitlyn was just in got a C rating. There was an article this week rating all the hospitals in Florida for their care and outcomes.
My one other worry is aging out of pediatrics so if we switch doctors I want someone who is willing to follow her until age 21 as some of them are willing or go back to her old doctor and then just make the switch to adult shortly after when we need to.

Just wanted to update, no call from the old doctor and I didn't call because I was giving them until the end of the day. I will call tomorrow.

Spoke with the office today. The doctor didn't want to talk over the phone. So they set up an appt. for us for next week.
