Doctor wants me in tomorrow

I have been having some issues getting to work on time. Sometimes I just gotta go before I can get in the car for a half hour.

My boss asked me to get a note from my doctor so we could fix my attendance record. I called my doctor and left a message and now she wants me in tomorrow. She thought I was doing better than this. I was doing better and then I tried a probiotic that threw everything out of whack. Since I was just diagnosed this year, I'm not sure what's worth a call.

I'm happy she doesn't want to waste time but I was just getting ready to start the SCD diet. Now I'm nervous she'll want to put me on Prednisone before I get a chance to see if the diet helps. I know some medications are necessary. I'm just worried about taking too many before things get bad.

Just nervous. :frown:

Nervous is alright. It takes time to adjust.

I understand not wanting to go on pred. But it is a short term drug that does a great job on inflammation.

Sending you my support.

Glad to hear that she's wanting to see you. Hopefully you two can somehow find a happy medium to get you regulated. Please keep us updated on how you're doing.

I'm just not happy with how things went today with the doctor. I was doing good after I got off Prednisone, until I started a stronger probiotic. I immediately put on weight, started going more often, so I stopped taking it. I now have a lot of body pain (my back, arms, legs) to the point that some days I can barely move, I need to wipe whether I poop or not, I get overheated easily, if I walk to far I risk going in my pants, and I'm always tired.

The doctor feels thst I'm constipated because I don't go a significant amount unless I drink juice first. The xray showed some stool throughout the colon but no blockage or dried matter. The nurse called me and said the doctor wants me to take Mirilax for constipation and start a stronger probiotic.

I'm willing to try but I'm also mad that my symptoms were dismissed. Not all of that can be caused by constipation. And my last blood test a few weeks ago showed inflammation. When I mentioned that I stopped losing weight she said that couldn't be Crohn's related and I need to have my Thyroid checked (which recently came back normal. )

Just so frustrated after this appointment. She made me feel like she didn't know what she was talking about.

Diet can play a huge roll in this. Keep the food journal so that you understand the role of each bit of food in your diet. For me, my keys are water, beef and potato. I can tinker with just about anything else. If I eat more than a minimal amount of cheese, it blocks me up. Too much water is the runs, too little is constipation and dehydration.

While I applaud the attempt at probiotics, you don't mention why you went to stronger ones. Remember that they alter your balance, and if something is balanced, you don't want to tinker too much with it. Pay close attention to what goes in, and it can really help with what goes out!

My doctor wanted me to start a stronger probiotic because things were still a little too messy. I told her that things got worse when I switched. She then gave me samples of an even stronger probiotic (VSL#3) that she wants me to try. I haven't taken any yet. Not sure if I want to. I know probiotics help a lot of people, but I've never found one that helped me in any way.

For now I'm trying the SCD diet. I'm starting when I get a batch of yogurt to turn out. :) Even if that doesn't help me enough, it will help me start back on foods slower so I can figure out my problem foods.

Do you think not taking the VSL#3 is a bad idea?

I've found with probiotics for myself and my kids that we have to work our way up to the full dose over the course of a couple weeks. Maybe start with half the dose every other day for a week, then half the dose every day for a week, then full dose/half dose for a week, finally up to full dose every day. It's like a weaning process but in reverse.

I also read somewhere, tho not necessarily a credible article, that the more trouble you have with probiotics, the more out of balance you are... which makes sense.

Good luck!

VSL#3 has helped a lot of people, but it didn't do anything for me. It might be worth a shot, though.
