Does remicade reduce other inflammations?

Hey all,

I am looking for some interesting information. Before remicade, I had long-standing issues with shoulder separation/dislocation. Had the misfortune a couple days ago to slip on some ice, dislocated the shoulder for the first time in about 6 years. The recovery seems to be significantly faster this time, probably the fastest I have had in about 60 separations and dislocations. I have far less pain, already far better mobility. I am certain that this was a serious dislocation - first time I have not been able to put it back in joint. Has anyone else experienced something of this nature?

I have Uveitis (inflammation of the uvea), and Crohn's Colitis which were diagnosed together in 2005. I'm no longer on Remicade due to a diagnosis of drug-induced Lupus, an uncommon side effect, but was in remission from both diseases while on it for several years. My eye doctor, one of the leading experts on the disease, and my gastroenterologist are able to consult on my care and frequently the meds they prescribe overlap. So yes, though I don't think Remicade has been approved yet for the treatment of Uveitis, it looks promising. In January the NIH published results of this study: Infliximab for the treatment of refractory noninfectious Uveitis. The study's conclusion: "Infliximab induces a high rate of complete clinical remission in recalcitrant uveitis and is well tolerated by most patients."

The list of inflammatory diseases this drug is approved to treat just keeps growing.

Thanks for the thoughts on this hazelnut - while I don't think I would prescribe remicade for a shoulder injury, it does seem to be helping out somewhat. Still have to go to physio though!

I found that when I was on Remicade, it helped with inflammation, with my fistula, and my acne went away and I got less migraines than usual. So I think it does definitely reduce other forms in inflammation.

It is also used to treat arthritis, so there's that, too!

Yes, I totally agree that Remicade helps with other inflammation in your body. I have a bad knee (I need a total knee replacement) and since I've been on Remicade, the knee pain is almost gone and I can walk normal......without a limp. When it's time for my Remicade infusion (like 4 or 5 days before) I can feel the knee pain coming back but once I have had infusion..........yipeeeee it's gone again

I am not sure...i had had body aches fpr a long time now amd my remicade is not helping with that

In 2009 I experienced moderate join pain, to the point that on celebrex and ibuprofen the pain could only be reduced to a dull ache. But when I received my remicade infusions the join pain would always subside, for a little bit at least.
