Easter in the Hospital

So ive been in the hospital for the last 2 days, the doctor is going to do another colonsopy tomorrow so that means prep time :-( I asked if he could do something other than go lightly and he said he will try to do a pill or a gateraide based one. Has any one done any of these? I have had some dark blood when i poop coming from the vaginal area so he is going to look into that as well and also see how my crohns is :-( Im also having to push like im having a bowl movement to pee has any one else had any of these symptoms? Your advice and experience would be appreciated.

:ywow: Awbrey that sucks! Bad enough having pain and in the hospital but holiday times are the worst. Other thing is service could be slow because of the holidays. :hugs:

From what is sounds like you could have Vaginalrectal symptoms? (someone help me here ) Preps really do taste nasty and if you are not eating, it would be nice for a pill. An enema might just hurt you more. :redface:

I hope you get relief and get the heck out of that hospital, let us know what happens after your scope. :wink:

Awbrey, so sorry to hear that you're stuck in the hospital and on a holiday too. I haven't done a pill type prep, but I've done the Gatorade & Miralax prep twice. My experience was that both times I got way too dehydrated and had to get IV fluids. Now, that may not be a problem for you since you are already in the hospital and possibly already hooked up to an IV. If it were me, I'd definitely push for the pill based prep first, that sounds so much easier than drinking gallons of any liquid (even the gatorade starts tasting nasty when you are on your 4th or 5th glass!). Good luck, I hope the scope finds the source of your issues and you are able to get on the mend and go home quickly!

having to push when youre trying to pee could be from any pain meds youre on. right now, im on percocet, and im having that problem. the flow stops and starts alot too. thats just a side effect of opiates. if youre not taking those, i have no idea. but, you are in a hospital lol you could ask a doctor?

the prep for a colonoscopy is the worst. i almost refused my scope the other day because i didnt want to do the prep. "lucky" for me the used enemas to clean me out. most painful thing ever.

im sure they will get to the bottom (haha) of whatever is going on. i almost had to be in the hospital over the long weekend, but i insisted i go home saturday morning. i probably should have stayed though, im having more symptoms, and i think my iv vein got infected..

good luck though, im sure everything will be fine. have the best easter you can!

Thanks everyone, just got done with the prep 2 10 0z bottles of Magnesium Cirate not to bad thank goodness, I think the prep is the worst part :-( I am on an iv so that is good, ill let everyone know tomorrow how it goes. Thanks

Sucks being in the hospital during holidays! Last time I was in over Easter was when I was umm....about 7 or 8 I think and had taken a tumble of ther handlebars of my bicycle - broken jaw, tooth, concussion...all that not-so-fun stuff!

Hi everyone
Just got out of the hospital, did my colonosopy at 7 am and they completely put me under lost 10 lbs from fri-mon :-( guess that is my spring cleaning for my body. Colonsopy looked really good so I was so happy,then the doc assistant says ya but we think it is your crohns and we can't see that unless we do a pill cam so call us in a few days to schedule one :-( I say well i dont have any insurance and she says hmmm well ya just go home im releasing you and try to figure it out :-( Really? Ive been in the hospital no food extreme pain and now i feel like complete hell and uh go home see if you can figure out some meds to take :-( Im really frustrated, I have no idea what to do, i guess take my sulfazalize and try other stuff grrrrr. I know that they are trying to help but i think the docs have no clue what to do sometimes :-( Any advice?

Aww Awbrey, I have no advice just some cyber hugs to hopefully make u feel a little betta. its so frustrating and all ya wanna do is scream at someone when you feel like no one is listening and paying attention.

my son JUST 10 min. ago said to me, why cant we find a doctor who has crohns?? coz if we found that doctor, he/she would understand my pain.

i hate this disease!!!

Oh, Awbrey. I'm so sorry for you and that lack of medical insurance is driving your treatment. Can they work with you at the hosp on a sliding scale for treatments?
