So you all have heard of off-the-wall treatments for crohns...

I have seen treatments with Coconut macaroons, sarsaparilla, Cow placenta and so on. This one, which happened to me, is true. For nothing else you may get a good laugh with it.

I had a bowel resection and had a ten inch scar in my abdomen. Was talking with my vet about it and healing and she mention BEMR therapy which she uses for the animals. Essentially it is a bio magnetic mat which you sit for 30 minutes to heal surgical wounds. I said: let's try it...my crohns surgeries have long recoveries so I had one treatment with it, supposed to increase my circulation.

I sat for 30 minutes and did not feel anything. They told me that it is a very subtle treatment, that I needed ten sessions. No thank you I said,

Now I am back to lots of walking and stationary bike at the easiest setting and feel my circulation has improved.

For more on this treatment google BEMR therapy, you never know, maybe I should eat coconut macaroons while I sit on the pad !

Upon further research on BEMR therapy and added SCAM to the search. Found several articles about the lack of research and unscientific terminology. It turns out that the real agenda for BEMR devices is to get vets and other health related people to become distributors.

Since animals cannot tell you how they feel it is a clever way to fool you. My vet is the best I've ever had, she has gotten in some wishful thinking about BEMR, every time I go that office for unrelated matters she says "let's get you to the BEMR right now". I am firm in not doing things that I don't want to do but she is getting very pushy on this device.

Since the real results cannot be measured the placebo effect makes you feel better.

Wow. I have learned a lot from this forum, but this is really weird! I would have tried it too since it didn't involve an injection / needles. 🌼

Whenever someone says this treatment is very mild and you won't feel a ting, and by the way you need to come back for 10 more treatments, that should be a huge red flag.
