Anyone else have this? My PCP mentioned it at my last appointment and seemed concerned and asked if my GI had ever ordered any tests on my throat but he has never even looked at that end of things lol.

My left tonsil was enlarged the last time I went to the ENT (recently)....but no doctor has ever showed any concern.

I get symptoms of Tonsillitis or strep very often. Strep results are usually negative but one time was told it was type C strep (you have to do a real culture that takes days, not those quick ones that give you results in minutes for type A). Doctors always throw antibiotics at me yet even if it were strep you can get better on your own without antibiotics. I never liked the idea of taking antibiotics with no tests done to prove that there's a bacterial infection.

Since 2008 I've been having these recurring infections in my tonsils and they last for at least a week. Started happening about 6-7 times a year, now with the Humira, its happening after every shot. Doctors still don't show concern even though I've shown them pictures or have been in the office while it was really bad. Only one GP (who was filling in for my real one that day) suggested that I should have my tonsils removed and that might help but I'd likely still get infections (just not as often).

I thought my story related a bit because my glands get very swollen and I really don't think its normal to have that happen so often.

I used to get really bad tonsillitis and I had mine removed when I was younger, this was before I was diagnosed with crohns but was having the symptoms of it back then.
I now will get very swollen glands most of the time I had them checked out by an ultrasound but nothing sinister.
Have you spoken to your dr about getting your tonsils removed? X

Thanks! I didn't really see a reason to worry about it as they are not causing problems right now other than (and this is gonna sound really gross) every now and then I get this feeling like something is stuck in my throat and something (I assume its food) is stuck in the little holes or creases back there. But its no big deal really as I can usually get it out with a qtip or something.

No we haven't talked about removing them yet because this is the first time its really come up and like I said they aren't really bothering me... aside from that I dont really have the time to take off or the money for a surgery right now if I can avoid it.

Same thing happens to me. It looks whitish then when you get it out it has this like blue cheese texture and is pretty foul smelling (I've only gotten to examine it a couple of times as usually I wind up swallowing it). I noticed this happening years before (possibly ever since I was a kid) I started getting recurring throat infections. When I explained it to my doctor they had no idea what I was talking about.

This has images after the removal of tonsils. The site wont allow me to show their photos but if you scroll down you'll see images of crypt debris in the link below.

"If the tonsils are frequently or chronically infected, they are no longer working properly. In fact, they have been "subverted" by the enemy bacteria, acting as reservoirs for infection."

"Crypt debris from the tonsils comprising dead layers of shed skin, trapped decomposing food, bacteria and other micro-organisms. This debris provides a sheltered home for germs, forming biofilms. Antibiotics don't penetrate into the crypt debris. Germs living in a biofilm state are resistant to antibiotics."

Now I just want mine flat out removed. I don't think any of my doctors are listening or understand how tonsils can really cause more harm than good for some people. Makes me wish they would start having issues with their tonsils. >:p

You're the first person I talked to who also has it happens to them. I never even thought to look it up until you mentioned it. :)
